    Hey all,
Been using the forum for a while for research and learning and I'm finally getting around to making an account and hopefully contributing some useful info for everyone in the future. I currently own a 2005 Toyota Matrix and my Fiance has a 2002 Tacoma 4cyl 2x4. (I know, I know... I'm driving the car and she has the truck... don't worry I'm buying a new Tacoma!) We are definitely Toyota fans and have had nothing but great things to say about both the vehicles we own.

Anyways, I was planning on getting a 2015 Tacoma v6 Dual Cab 4x4, but after I saw the better MPG on the new V6 I am most likely waiting for that. We own a camp up in the Adirondack mountains, and our access road is rough to say the least. We manage with the 2x4 right in the summer time, but once winter comes the road is not maintained and we can't make it up the hill. So that is where my need for the 4x4 comes from. I'm constantly doing carpentry and landscaping projects that require me to haul materials, so I am opting for the Long Bed. Dual cab is since I plan to keep this truck as long as it lasts and want to make sure its "future-proof" as far as room for family. We are not "off-roaders" save for the access road to our property, which really isn't very far... just with the incline in the winter time without being plowed... the 2x4 can't hack it.

Never bought a car brand new so any advice would be great. I wouldn't be completely apposed to a 2015 if I could get a great deal on it, but with the extra 2MPG on the v6 2016... would have to be a pretty good deal or reason for me to not wait for the 2016.

Thank you all for the info you provide. This forum has really helped me figure out what options I will need and gives me confidence in my decision to get me a new Tacoma.

Welcome  I'm sure you can get a hell of a deal if you find a dealer with some 2015s on the lot. You can't go wrong either way though, good luck.

Hi and welcome to the tacoclub! I would personally go for the 15 you can get a better deal and its not a huge difference in specs, I personally dont like the way the 16's look and the first year of a new generation vehicle might need some time to work out the tweaks.. IMO

The 16's only get +2 mpg overall.

So you guys don't think the extra 2mpg justifies waiting for a '16 or the increased price? Seemed like if I was going to plan on keeping it for the life of the truck that would add up over the years, but I really don't know enough to say one way or the others.

That was really my main reason for wanting to wait on a 16, thinking that the 2mpg was a big deal. Not really a huge fan of the new design either and doesn't sound like there are any perks besides the better mpg and slightly better torque.

    Thanks for the welcome!!

If the 16 had a combined 24 or 25 mpg I would be kicking myself for buying a 15. Love my 15, and now not tempted to go 16. Drive them both and choose whats best for you. 16's should be on lots early Sept I think.

Hello there. I'm guessing you got the long bed as well. And it is 4WD?
If you have any money left over there are always the option to change the wheels and tires.

Yes it is the V6/Double Cab/Long bed/4wd. Exactly what I wanted. I am looking for suggestions on best things to start upgrading first. Order the obvious rubber floor mats + seat covers tonight. Would love input on anything that I should be considering to add for a stock truck. Wheels/tires are definitely on my list but will probably wait a month or two and save up a few bucks for it.

    Thanks guys!

Is it worth going with the more expensive Husky/Weathertec rubber mats apposed to the $30 non-brand type ones on Amazon?

You could put bad ass headlights  a light bar on the front and some pods on the back of your bumper. Even after you get done with your build you still wanna put more mods on it.

You're better off! The price increase on the 2016 that's likely would not pay for itself even with +2 MPGs. Simply not worth it from a fuel economy standpoint.

Congrats on the new Tacoma! :)
