Hello all, Im new to this forum and just saying hey, hopefully with my fairly new 2023 tacoma this forum can answer some of my question and concerns with truck, it is 2023 tacoma with less than 5k and bought to tow a 3500 lbs enclosed trailer with but noticing right off that it's got it's quarks with transmission and found that out this weekend when I thought either engine was going to over Rev or was going to drop Trans on interstate, not really what I was expecting but looking for ways to improve for towing, but any way enough with my problems, just want to say hey!!!!

    Welcome aboard!

Transmission “gear hunting” is a known issue in 3rd gen Tacomas. In an attempt to improve fuel economy, Toyota engineers programmed the engine control unit (ECU) and transmission control unit (TCU) to be uber-conservative: Keep rpms as low as possible, for as long as possible. This is why so many 3rd gen owners get a “tune”, which reprograms the ECU/TCU shift logic and makes it much more pleasant to drive. You can find more info on various tunes in the “Performance and Tuning” section.
