    How about a Walther P99?

Around U$600 to 650 for a lightly used model.

Really? Could you please show me some statistics to back that up?

I'm not trying to be a dick, but that's a pretty broad generalized statement which leads to people thinking bigger is always better.

You could shoot a cracked out meth head with a grenade launcher, but if they can't feel anything it's not going to stop them.

Self defense is about shot placement and practice. You're only as good as you lowest level of training.

Again, I'm not trying to be a dick but people need to stop and think about what you're saying and maybe think about it in a different way.

You have a point - Let me retract and just say if I had a choice, I would want something with more stopping power.... just in case your theory of shot placement being all that matters fails.

I don't want this to turn into a bigger is better argument here!!

    Meth head or not...
    Shot placement or not...

All i want is that when i hit him where ever I hit him...He stops what ever it was he intended on doing!

Well whatever you get, practice practice practice...that's the only way you are going to get a head shot on a moving/charging/weaving/small at a distance target. Again, not trying to be rude but I see SO many people buy a gun and think that they quick draw Magraw and never practice.

Back on topic, have you made a choice on gun yet or gun and shot anything?

I tried the Walther at one time when I was looking for a CCW pistol, but didn't like how slim it was in my hand.

I've owned walther's in the past they are great guns, but I still prefer the XD to almost anything else in my collection. Next on my list is probably an HK.

I don't think your correct here???

1911 is usually referring to a .45 ACP?
as in Colt M1911 because it was a .45 cal "Automatic Colt Pistol" introduced in March 1911...So i don;t think you will find a .40 S&W "1911".

the M1911A1 in the year 1924 i believe...

.40 Cal weren't intriduced until 1990 so i don't think anyone would refer to them as 1911s?

    I could be wrong though?

Get a GLOCK, everytime you pull the trigger it goes BANG. I like to think of it as the AK of handguns.

I have the Glock 9mm Compact and love it, but would like to get the .40 Cal version. My cousin has the .40 XD and that is also a great gun to shoot and carry...tough choice.

    http://savannah.craigslist.org/rnr/982078099.html

    From the above link...

YOU WILL FIND THAT THE "CRAIGSLIST" AD HAS BEEN REMOVED,
BUT THE FOLLOWING IS THE INFORMATION THAT WAS THERE.

To the Guy Who Mugged Me Downtown (Downtown, Savannah)

I was the white guy with the black Burrberry jacket that you
de! manded I hand over shortly after you pulled the knife on me and my
girlfriend. You also asked for my girlfriend's purse and earrings. I hope
you somehow come across this message. I'd like to apologize.

I didn't expect you to crap your pants when I drew my pistol after
you took my jacket. Truth is, I was wearing the jacket for a reason that
evening, and it wasn't that cold outside. You see, my girlfriend had just
bought me that Kimber 1911 .45 ACP pistol for Christmas, and we had just
picked up a shoulder holster for it that evening. Beautiful pistol, eh?
It's a very intimidating weapon when pointed at your head, isn't it?

I know it probably wasn't a great deal of fun walking back to
wherever you'd come from with that brown sludge flopping about in your
pants. I'm sure it was even wor! se sinc e you also ended up leaving your
shoes, cellphone, and wallet with me. I couldn't have you calling up any of
your buddies to come help you try to mug us again. I took the liberty of
calling your mother, or "Momma" as you had her listed in your cell, and
explaining to her your situation. I also bought myself some gas on your
card. I gave your shoes to one of the homeless guys over by Vinnie Van Go
Go's, along with all of the cash in your wallet, then I threw the wallet
    itself in a dumpster.

I called a bunch of phone sex numbers from your cell. They'll be on
your bill in case you'd like to know which ones. Alltel recently shut down
the line, and I've only had the phone for a little over a day now, so I
don't know what's going on with that. I hope they haven't permanently cut
off your service. I was about to make some thre! atening phone calls to the
DA's office with it. Oh well.

So, about your pants. I know that I was a little rough on you when
you did this whole attempted mugging thing, so I'd like to make it up to
you. I'm sure you've already washed your pants, so I'd like to help you
out. I'd like to reimburse you for the detergent you used on the pants.
What brand did you use, and was it liquid or powder? I'd also like to
apologize for not killing you and instead making you walk back home
humiliated. I'm hoping that you'll reconsider your choice of path in life.
Next time you might not be so lucky. If you read this message, email me and
we'll do lunch and laundry. Peace! - Alex
