Sorry i still think your wrong...They wouldn't refer to a Caliber that wasn't invented until 1990 the same as a model that was introduced in 1911??

the Colt M1911 automatic pistol was the first issued automatic pistol during WWI.

The .40 S&W Cal. Smith and Wesson Model 4006 was the first gun but that wasnt until January 1990, and the Glock 22 was the 1st to be sold...

Sorry to refer to anythig other than a .45ACP as a 1911 would be inaccurate...Just because many sports cars have gull wing doors they are not all called Deloreans..

    actually

thinkingman is correct (not often i agree with him)

the 1911 is a "style" now and encompasses many different calibers

I've never sold a gun before so I'd like to know the fees and responsibilities on my end. I have absolutely no problem selling it, I just want to make sure it's done through the right channels as far as shipping, registration and such. I'll work with you on the price but when all is said in done I'd like to have at least $550.00 in my pocket.

Would you like some pictures of everything included?

There are a few places that make 1911's in 40SW, Caspian arms is one of them.

    http://www.caspianarms.com/index.php

They are HIGHLY modified competition style pistol that can be chambered in any caliber.

Typically the 1911 is not in .40SW, but for competition shooters anything is possible.

The reason there is no one maker of the 1911 is because it wasn't patterned until after it was out for a long time. Thus several companies started producing the gun, just like you see AR15's. There are dozens of companies that make them.

You price is fair...as far as selling...you would have to talk to your local Post office for shipping laws...

I know here in Maine there isnt anything needed for private sales of guns...Usually just a bill of sale to keep for records showing you no longer owned it...but even that isnt a must...I would be happy to provide one for you though.

Other than shipping costs/laws over state lines there shouldnt be any other costs to sellgin it... I think you can ship UPS, fed ex and most shipping companies. Yeha send some pic of everything...especially any close ups of dameg etc...

So i am still trying to disypher the difference between a 1911 and say any other "pistol"

So i understand that most .45acp automatic pistols are going to be called 1911s but what makes it that?

is it the simplistic design of the gun that give it the 1911 name, as opposed to the space age designs of things like the walther glock and XD?

    1911?

    not a 1911?
