I own a taurus 24/7 pro in .45 acp with a 4.25" barrel I only paid $420 for it at a show brand new and I love it. It is made in a few different calibers and barrel lengths. Don't know if its right for you but I'd say its worth looking into.

Go XD man. I love my XD40. I've shot almost all of the ones mentioned so far, minus the Walther. The XD feels so much more natural. But to each his own. As someone posted earlier, shoot 'em all before you buy them. If you're not able to, at least hold them, point, aim, and see which one feels more natural in your hand. They are all good guns, so you know you'll be getting a good weapon without even having to shoot it. If your were law enforcement, I'd say go Glock due to magazine swapping. Otherwise,
    XD FTW IMO.:quickdraw:

I looked up real quick about shipping firearms...It looks like you woudl ahev to go through a Licensed shipper that uses UPS or Fed ex or something...You might want to check a local Gun store...maybe a cabelas or a small mom and Pop sporting goods store? They migth be able to tell you how to ship it. or they migth be able to do it for you...

EDIT: i was just reading the UPS website and it looks like they will ship handguns but it has to be dropped off in person and it have to be NEXT day AIR EARLY A.M. ppick up?? So maybe you can just ship through them...

I used to work at a sporting goods store that was in a town on teh canadian boarder, and i know we shipped guns to Canada for people who were traveling through and they arn't allowed to drive them across the Boarder through customs.

PM...any details you can find out...

I believe those are (going from left to right) holster, loader and double mag holder.

    On the shipping of guns:
Most of the time you have to ship to an FFL (Federal Firearms License) when dealing with guns, that means there would be a 4473 background check to be filled out when you go pick it up at your local dealer. If you don't have an FFL you can't receive a gun via postal or other parcel service, it's against federal law.

It would probably be a $25 transfer fee on both ends for the shops services.

Oh wow, that's an ok deal too. I would visit local gun shops before I bought from Cabelas, they jack up the price too much.

have you ever checked out buds guns online?
    http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php

They have some of the best prices on the internet...just have to have them ship it to your FFL and no sales tax as long as your out of state.

New XD .40SW $462 delivered and there's more like this online.

yeah i just checked em' out...they are about $100 cheaper than anywhere else...locally.

We have a place called "the kittery trading post" that has a HUUUUGE gun library...everyone usually just goes there but their prices are similar to retail chains like Cabels...IN fact when Cabela's Opened this past year they actually went to the Kittery trading Post and Bought $20,000 in used guns to have in stock for the opening...

Have you looked at the S&W M&P's? Great pistols. Similar to Glock's but in my opinion better. I own 2 Glocks( 17 and 23). I like my S&W M&P 9mm better than both of my Glocks.

But when you get right down to it, the choice should be what you are most comfortable with in your hands. Check out the M&P's before you decide.:)

    UPDATE:
Yesterday i went into cabela's and got my hands on the... Wather, Glock , XD and the XDM...and the Sig...also checked out the HK USP...

So far the Glock it still my favorite choice as far comfort...
in a close 2nd place is actually the HK USP (wasnt even on my list)...The reason i liked the HK was the DA trigger pull on the hammer action was so light but then it really sitffened up for the firing pull...

I wasnt crazy about the rear safety on the XD's. it felt funny in my hands.

The wather would make a great CCW gun but i didnt like anything about it's feel and especially the mag release switch was in an ackward position for my hands...

The Guy at the Gun counter said he had HK, Glock and The Xd...He said The glock was hands down his favorite...

MUhahaha my plan to convert you to HK is working...

Dude if you like the usp (I have one of those too BTW) try the HK P2000, it has adjustable grips and it's a little more balanced. It's the updated version of the USP compact.
