For safety checks, the exhaust must exit after the passenger cabin. As long as the tip goes past the cab it's good to go. SUVs were arguable, since we would consider the most rear window as the end to the passenger cabin, we discouraged people from chopping and dumping directly after the muffler on suvs.

Also, this can be used against you if pulled over or vehicle impounded and thoroughly inspected. Safety check laws and the hawaii revised statues that the law enforcement officers go by are two different things. §291-22 Regulation of exhaust pipe and muffler. It shall be unlawful for any person to drive upon the public highways any motor scooter, as defined in section 286-2, the exhaust pipe or muffler of which has been so changed from the factory design as to increase the volume or audibility of the explosions within the motor thereof.

you could potentially fail both. what part is rubbing, minor trimming can fix quite a few rubs. especially if its just slightly...

i have 275/70/18's on my truck which is stock height, I had to trim a little bit of the fender flare and remove the front mud flaps, no more rubbing except over big bumps.

I used a dremel with a sanding wheel. was super easy and clean looking...just watch out for the hot plastic bits, they stick to your skin and hurt..A LOT. haha

Hey Conor... are those scratches (in the pic) from the mud flaps??? If so, I have some too, but I'm glad they don't show that easily on my silver..

My truck is making some fluttering noises, I believe its a cracked muffler/exhaust. Will I pass the safety check/ recon check? If not... Any recommended places?

Another buddy of mine took his 93 yota(stock) into the west maui saftey check by napa in Lahaina... they failed him for a ulua fish sticker on the back window. They also tried to make him take off his police supporter/family member sticker, but that didn't sit to well. h ended up passing with it on. lol
