    Hello folks,
It's been quite a while since I posted. Sorry...
Anyway, I'm the original owner of my 2004 Tacoma, and finally upgraded the head unit to a Kenwood Excelon DDX8905S, and now researching speaker options. Without going to a subwoofer and amp, what would be the preferred speaker options. Not really a boom-boom guy, but do want a rich sound. Sorry for the leg in the pic.. :)
Thanks in advance for your input!!

Oh man, that's a CLEAN 1st gen! Hubba Hubba! :cookiemonster:

A small amp really would get you a lot more options, but plenty out there for you off just the deck. The big thing you'll want to be looking for is something with higher sensitivity. One thing to note while shopping - you'll find 2 different sensitivity standards. One is expressed as 2.83V and the other 1W/1m. They are NOT the same. To make a long story short, as a generalization, add 3.5 dB to the 2.83V method to arrive at the 1W/1m equivalent.

IMHO speakers are the single most important factor when trying to reproduce sounds accurately. You get what you pay for up to a point of diminishing returns. Hard to make recommendations without a price range, but with the sort of power you're considering using this can be cheap.

You're limited to 5x7" unless you want to make/buy adapters. Going to round speakers opens up a LOT more options.

I'd love to hear more about that dash mat....

Thoughts on Kenwood Excelon speakers and amps? Not ruling out a small amp. Just no room (and no real need) for a Sub.
    Thanks folks!!
