I ordered new headlights from Tacomabeast (which by the way have great customer service) and they arrived yesterday. I took them out of the box to check them out and so far I'm impressed. They look real good from a physical stand point. I hope to install them this weekend and will do pics and videos. They are not @mesojdm looking lights, but they look good for the money. Only hope is that the light output is good, so we will see

Install notes and review of headlights:

First of all, I am happy I got them. They make the black truck look so much better with the black housings so looks wise I'm super happy.

The housings themselves I think look well constructed, maybe not as well as oem, but good for the money and only time will tell if they hold up, but I have read other reviews that say they are holding up. All the wires were plug and play so easy to install.

    Installation:
Watch the video above, gives you all the steps and is easy to find. I will say the only thing in the video I found challenging was reaching down to loosen the clips on the fender flares from within the engine bay so I just moved the fender liner out of the way, reached in and squeezed the clip for the flare that way. Outside of that, the install was exactly like the video and anyone can do it.

One thing to note to make sure of when you install them is make sure the black vent looking thing is attached to the headlight housings before installing the housings. For some reason my driver side one was missing it (which I will contact the vendor on) and I didn't notice it until I put it all together and began taking pictures. I took one off the oem headlight and then I had to remove the bumper again to install the piece onto the housing so make note of this during install so you don't have to do what I did.

Ok onto the lighting. I am happy with them. I like the way they look. The drl's are not as bright as the oem ones and I'm ok with that because I like the looks of these drl's better than the oem's. The blinkers, however are super cool and they stand out in my eyes and that's one of the things that made me purchase these housings so I am happy with them. However, it would have been cool if it went all the way to the end, but my guess is that there isn't enough time between blinks to do that. Now I installed H7 6000k hid's into mine so I cannot comment on the bulbs they come with. So far the hid's look great. I have not used them at night yet, but during the day shining into my garage they look bright so i'll see tonight or in the morning what they look like in the dark.

Overall, they are nice and worth the money and if you want a new look then I would do it. They aren't going to be as awesome as @mesojdm can make, but they are a good alternative. Below are pics and please excuse the dirty truck, it does need a bath big time

I agree so to me it is worth the gamble. If anything I got them for the drl/blinker and that they are black inside

i bought these, and fully regret it. i sold em locally for 200$. if you dont have trd sport or off road, the drl will not work, only the amber for drl for sr5 and lower. the output is shit. and they stated you can change the bulbs into h7, nope it does not fit. dont buy lol. not worth it. buying something else. rock slider or even a light bar instead. my 2Cent

Very cool. Any chance we can see a comparison video of the light these output vs the OEM bulbs and housings?

I have the off road model so the drl will work and I knew that going into it. I am concerned on the light output too, but the guy told me they came with xenon bulbs and that the light output was good, but we'll see about that. it does take a h7, but I haven't tried swapping bulbs.

    I hope to yes.

it stated it does take h7, but the way the housing is and how they have a cap and cheap metal string holding it together, it wont work, . it does not fit, unless you start making modification yourself. try jimmy rigging it lol. halogen bulb, slightly higher output than the stock. anyways if you're able to swap the bulbs into led or hid, please post a pic for comparison. cheers

I have a set of these in the garage waiting for some special treatment. In stock form then are moderate at best. Great for someone that just wants a blacked out housing, but not for performance. The original bulbs suck, and who knows how a replacement will perform in the projector lens.
Also, the rear caps are very close to the projectors and could cause clearance issues trying to fit a HID or LED bulb.
The drl is a "cool factor" I haven't ripped them part yet, but I'm sure they are some cheap SMD's on a PCB behind the white acrylic panel. The stock TOYOTA DRL's are far superior in output.
But other then that they are great for someone that just wants a simple swap for a quick Facelift. Myself on the other hand, will be doing a complete heart transplant on them.

I knew you would. I wanted them more for the black part and thought the turn signal was cool. I am leary of the drl output and of course the light output so if i cannot get the light output to work then I'll send them back most likely. I really want black housings, but way to scared to open up oem ones to paint.

It is possible to squeeze a HID in there because I did see some other websites offering these housings with 5000k hid's, that is up for debate

So the 2018 SR5 have an option to add LED fogs and the LED DRL headlights for I want to say like $400. I would assume that from the factory its the same set up the Offroad and above have on them so one would think if you have a brand new SR5 with that option these would be plug and play. I'm kind of just speaking out loud because I am looking to buy a 18' SR5 with this option lol.

But I would be more curious if someone can fit HID blubs in these because that might make it worth it for anyone who doesn't want to crack open their headlight to blackout their stock housing.

Good thing I found this thread.. I thought it was just the housing and you had to install your own bulbs for the price point. I'll pass.

I have a 2016 SR and if you cut the DRL plugs and add a new turn signal circuit, you can get these to work on the models without LED strips built in.

Mine came with bulbs already installed in the housing, though so if you want hid's then yes you would have to install those.
