Welcome guys! The bigger question is how much your wallet is willing to let go for a lift.....then we can give you a lot more options. But the norm for lifts is 2.5" to 3".

I have a 3 inch with an aal. If I could do it over again which I will do is go with a Dakkar leaf pack in the back. The AAL isn't doing it for me. Performance is hard to come by with out a super charger which I am doing. It will be my pay off the truck present. But I have a Airaid CAI and a throttle body spacer. also changed to a custom cat back exhaust 2 3/4 pipe in and out with a 14inch magnaflow. Noticed a difference in power but not the same as a super charger.

I'm no expert, but I'd say anything major you add on to your truck from the dealership is going to be significantly more expensive than getting it later. Personally I'd like to get everything somewhat standard (excluding of course performance enhancing mods and personal accessories) and just get to know your truck. But that's just me, and I've never owned a Tacoma before, so take that with a grain of salt.

    Welcome to TW, from Folsom

Being an old fart, I have a different mind-set on lifts and mods. I do them because of a functional need, not to impress my friends, or just because its the popular thing to do. Why would you spend $40k on a brand new truck and then 'ruin it' with thousands of dollars of poor-quality (compared to factory Toyota) aftermarket 'upgrades' ? I've found, over 20 years of off-roading in Toyotas, that the further you get away from factory, the more un-reliable the rig becomes.

It would make more sense to get a nice used broken-in truck, for say $25k. Then use the $15k you saved for mods.

As an aside, you do realize that flashy, visible add-ons make our rigs even more attractive to thieves.

Well, I guess I'm raining on your parade, but you did want some honest advice, I hope you're not too offended. :D

Enjoy your Toyota experience. I know I have over the years.
