Hi- so yeah time for me to do a mod other than floor mats and stickers. I will be doing the mods alone so....

I searched through the 490 lift kit topics, AND read the sticky. What I need help with is a little more basic.

I know I want to do just a body lift, so is it as simple (really) as a block and longer u-bolts? If that is the case I could do it I think. If it were even a little more involved, like brake lines or such I'm out. I would likely even need to be told how to jack the truck up to get the bolts and blocks.

Thanks for the online help- pretty sure I could do this : )

    Welcome to tw.
Body lift and lifting the suspension are 2/ 3 different things.
Body lift is putting spacers and bushings in the body mounts.
Lifting the suspension is done 2 ways....
Blocks and spacers.... or coilovers shocks and aal or new leaf pack.

Spacers and blocks are the easiest types to put in. Yes longer u bolts and blocks in the back and puck spacers up front.

Yeah I think you've misread. I think you mean BLOCK lift.

ok blocks and spacers. is that truly all I need? and of course ubolts but that is obvious even to me. how about I go 2" up- don't need longer brake lines or shocks or anything? seems like they are about $100 but that is maybe just for the rear idk

You dont need brake lines or new shocks for the spacer lift. Just don't be going all crazy off road.

Are you planning to put larger tires on the truck?

ok thank you for the video- it looks like too much for me to do. wish it was as easy to do the front as the rear, I could totally do the blocks but they must just be for rear...

I do not offroad much but do use my 4wd in the mountains in the snow and other occasions, so no risk of overdoing it : )

and I looked at the link to stock tires on a lifted truck but they were not visible. tbh I actually like the look of stock rubber with a small lift! thx

Yup the blocks are for the rear and the fronts you need to remove the shock at the top 3 mounting points and the bottom mount (possibly) or not sure if you can just force the lower control arm down... not the shock itself and release the upper ball joint on the upper control arm (hit flat spot on spindle with hammer). Then mount the spacer to the shock assembly, then put the entire thing back in

well maybe since i need to get involved with the shocks, how about i just bring it to the shop and have them install the bilsteins?

although i consider it cheating to pay for a lift, i need this truck UP!

You can also get lift by changing tire size. 265/70-17 is the largest (17 rim) Toyota recommends. If you’re feeling brave people have run 275/70 and 255/80’s with no mods.

It's the other way around... spacers are cheating. A actual suspension improvement is hardly cheating.
