Just bought my Tacoma last month, brand new, converted from always buying Chevy... questions

    1. I noticed when I lock/unlock truck the headlights are orange/amber color. Is there anyway to change that to daylight running lights in vehicle settings easily?
    2. Would a 1" leveling kit in the front risk a void of warranty? Amd is it worth it?
    Thanks!

    Welcome aboard.

Can’t help with question#1. But I think you’re pretty darn safe with question #2 unless you have specific warranty issues with the front suspension or steering.

    Welcome
Not sure on the headlights, I doubt it’s a baked in setting.

read up on lifts first lots of info, but no not going to void your entire warranty. If related parts wear, those particular parts could be denied.

Rake is engineered into lots of vehicles for specific reasons. The main reason on trucks is so they don't squat when you haul a decent load or tow heavy-ish.

Squatting in those conditions makes a light front end, ie twitchy steering and somewhat less effective braking.

Only you can decide if you prefer form over function.

Yeah so that's the con of it I guess. Always a con to messing with the way it was built, I always have left my previous trucks stock

I guess I'm not sure what you mean about unlocking the truck and the headlights. Are you referring to the OEM LED headlights and the DRL strip around it that doubles as the turn signal?

Good point too! Our projector style headlights seem especially so in this department, just a few degrees off and they’re focusing light right in to driver’s eyes.

Mods are not always a con. Many actually improve things. You just have to pick the right things to do.

And certainly there's nothing wrong with looks. Especially when it's part of a well thought out functional mod.

Good point! I noticed I wasn't blinding people in the drive-thru line like I used to with my HD Chevy and it's stock lift

I'm still a bit baffled why these some of these trucks require a leveling kit, when many come perfectly level already like mine did.

Have you actually put a level on the frame to verify that?

    It would be most unusual.

I've measured all the wheels from the center of the axle to the top of each wheel well fender, and quarter panel, and they all fall within a 1/4'' of each other. Even on a perfectly level concrete slab, the truck appears perfectly level when sitting on it. I've seen other gen3 similar tacoma's here that look level, so it's not that odd. My gen1 tundra was the most un-level pickup I've ever owned. I swear the rear looked 2'' higher than the front.
