    Hey yall

    don’t know if this is the right forum to post in, but
    I’m looking to purchase this Tacoma 2022 trd pro and I’m a little worried about the rust I’m seeing, but I’ve heard that is to be expected. I was hoping to get some advice on if this rust is excessive and something I should be worried about/deter me from purchasing?

    let me know thanks!

    Welcome.

    I have a 2021 Sport and the undercarriage on my truck is not as accelerated as what I see in these photos.

    The good news is...it's not terrible but fixable.

    I'd pay to have this treated...maybe have the dealership treat it before buying.

    This would be a discussion I'd have with the salesman but I'm sure it wouldn't be given the attention it needs.

    It wouldn't be a bad decision to buy it but it depends on how much they ask.

    Don't look as if you want the truck...sales-people can sense this aura.

    You can find a better deal elsewhere...should be what you convey as a stand.

    Walk away...you just never know what they will do.

    Look elsewhere...give yourself other options.

    Just don't seem committed to one vehicle...or give that impression.

    I don't really see anything urgent to fix. The minor rust on the springs looks typical. The frame welds all get surface rust over time. None of mine were flaking when I got it, but it bothered me on my truck (2014) so I wire-brushed them, primed and painted them with Rustoleum satin black with a foam brush. I did the same for the entire rear axle and pumpkin. Four years later and none of it has come back. The worst rust was on the hitch which had rust and loose flaking paint. I scraped and cleaned it up and painted it. To be fair, every trailer hitch I have had (about eight of them) have had the same issue. It must be the steel they make them from. I finished with a spray of fluid-film on everything but the plastic fuel tank.

    Welcome to TacomaWorld! :proposetoast: Add some pics of your truck when you get a chance: We like pics! :thumbsup:

    it really depends on where you're located.

    in perfect california that's horrific, and should be passed on at all costs.

    in northern illinois/indiana/michigan, where they layer salt on the roads if the weather people are predicting snow next month, that looks like a brand new truck.
