I worded that last post poorly, I just meant I will have to stay away from the Halo/LED's as you mentioned...Have to do some more searching online and if I find something that looks appealing I'll be sure to run it by you guys

Yeah, if you come here with questions... we're more than happy to oblige. I hate it when people make impulse buys on stuff when they have resources available to them to aim them in the right direction.

There is no point in buying them completely blacked out or even having them completely blacked out without a projector retrofit. The light output will suck and may even be illegal or bad news if you get in a wreck at night and your insurance company sees them that way with no real output.

You really don't have to scrape the old adhesive off the headlights if you don't want to. I took the same pair of headlights apart three times and left the factory glue on them and just added an extra bead of silicone from wal mart and never had any problems with fogging or leaking. Just trying to save you the headache if trying to get it all out.

I hear ya. I personally will never scrape it off...there is no need to. It's the same adhesive that was on it before you peeled them apart and will be the same after you seal em back up just with the silicone as a back up. Post up your truck after you have em installed. GL

I know you can't tighten down that crappy casted nut really good otherwise it willl break so I'm trying to find a replacement nut that is not casted.

The good news is that I measured the nut and it's an M36x1.5 fine thread

The bad news is that it only comes in stainless steel from McMaster which is $52. If they had a common zinc plated steel one, then it would be like $5

What projector kit do you have? If you have a TRS kit then call matt and get another set of lock rings. I bought a set from him a few months back. He is an awesome guy and very helpful. I think I paid like $10 for two

I haven't broke my lock rings or started the retrofit yet. I just wanted to use a better nut so I can crank down on it without breaking. I heard that some people have their projectors wobble because they can't tighten them that much because of the casted lock ring.

You can push the projector onto the reflector bowl to get a little more play to tighten the lock rings...pretty much you are squeezing the rubber piece on the back of the projector instead of trying to suck it in by tightening the ring.

And you will have some kind of wobble with this kind if retrofit cuz the weight of the projector is alot for the big ass reflector bowl to handle since it's only held on by the two adjustment screws compared to just the bulb and that center bulb shield.

I've seen some guys epoxy the projectors to the reflector bowl. I dunno how it will hold up though
