The problem is the diesel in the Colorado is gated behind a serious wallet reaming via trim levels. Screw that. It won't sell for shit, and of course they're gonna be like "hurr durr no one wanted the diesel, it's a failure!"

-Can you get the diesel in the extended cab? NOPE
-Can you get it in the base trim of Crew Cab Short Bed? NOOOPE
Shit, what is the absolute bare minimum the diesel will cost me?
And that's before options, nerd! Bend over for those!

How about 4WD and just the convenience package?

Then they're going to be surprised that a $40K diesel doesn't sell well, they're going to axe it from the lineup, and throw their hands up in the air and shrug. "I guess no one likes diesels in America!"

And if Toyota is watching them for cues, well, say farewell to the idea of a Taco with a 300lb-ft grunty little diesel. If missing the point were an olympic sport, these shitters would be gold medalists.

The first diesel Colorado that the dealer I work at sold has spent the last 2 weeks in the shop. No thanks.

Kind of looks like the ridgeline. I am really interested in what the ford ranger is going to look like.

For those of you thinking it's coming with 100,000 miles under warranty, notice the prices are puonds... so I think they wrote it wrong and meant 100,000 kilometers

WHY DID THEY GO TO LEAF SPRINGS IN THE REAR?!?!

Diesel in extended cab will be made. Its a fleet only vehicle. But can you get a "fleet only" crown vic or Chevy Caprice? Yes, fairly easily.

Same will be true for a diesel extended cab Colorado.

The engine has unlimited miles of warranty for the first year. Imagine all those pizza Hut owners would do with those trucks? And 39.8mpg?

We'd be getting pizza delivered from New York all the way to California.

The problem is, you an I might wan't a high mpg, tough little work truck that can haul/tow etc., but most people want a testosterone sign that drives like a car. From what I have seen, 95% of people would just be pissed about 150hp diesel not screaming off the line and jumping through traffic like a bunny.

People who tow get a full size and I fear the mid size diesel will stumble here especially after the EPA castrates the powerplant. I had an 81 Datsun diesel with 85hp. We towed our 4000lb tractor with that thing. I really wish the small diesels would come back, but I think the market is much smaller than the vocal minority thinks it is. Today's truck buyer is by-and-large impatient, lazy and wants big and peppy power.

Also, as much as people rip on the international styling (Navarro, Ranger, Hilux). Imagine being able to see over the hood off-roading. Everyone wants to mod the crap out of their truck to make it better off-road, but are fine with a big square snout that serves no purpose.

Sometimes ugly is just perception from being saturated with American styling. I think objectively, the styling is much more practical for aerodynamics and driving visibility both on and off-road. If we weren't bombarded by big square silverados, I think it wouldn't seem so "ugly". It's like high rise ladies shorts/jeans. They were hot in the 90s, fugly till a few years ago, and now seem to be back. Form over function is the American way.

More towing, bigger payload, front and rear lockers. That "ugly" truck is still 2x the truck our 3rd gens are.

I like how out of the 9 different models only 2 are automatics. If it comes to the states it will be the opposite only 2 of the 9 will be manual, lazy ass Americans have ruined the market for manuals lol

Actually the British use miles. Canada, Australia and most of the world use kilometers.

Wish I could have bought a Tacoma in the "Invincible" trim level . Kinda funny that an "Invincible" truck would need such a great warranty...should never have any failures.

Probably as ironic as an "Off-Road" model that comes with a torqueless minivan engine is to the Europeans.

Not to derail, but I'm pretty sure that's because of pedestrian safety. Big noses with large standoffs from the motor are life savers when grandma jumps a curb and clips a pedestrian.

    Hilux > Tacoma.

Everyone is complaining about how it looks. That Hilux is built better than the 3rd gens. While that thing is hauling military gear and supplies all over the world, us North Americans have to deal with a wussified Tacoma.
