I put a Honda CRV horn in mine. It's very Japanese sounding, plus it's annoying AF. Direct bolt on, just had to add a strip of wire and a couple of the proper sized connectors to hook into each of the connections on the horn and harness.

What are you asking exactly? Horns are real easy to change out. 1 mounting bolt and 1 wire. I went with the fiamm oem low note youl find at auto parts stores.

wolo manufacturing seems to have a good selection of different tones. lorry trucks seem to all use 200hz horns but it takes a beefy compressor to push it. that's what i want but i haven't found something close yet.

the wolo big bad max seems to be the best i've found. about the same as that piaa

    Greatest video on TW:

I ended up putting an 01-04 horn on my truck. Direct bolt on, direct wiring, etc. Sounds much better. No more "meep"

Train horn ftw! J/k. Or am I.. Actually started to make my own with the pvc diy project. Never got around to finishing it. Need to get more parts and a tank. Just a thought for ya. Certainly not the way to go for an easy horn replacement, or for a the "legal" route. I'm still doing it though. Eventually. If interested at all just YouTube pvc train horns. Again, use at your own risk. You've been warned. Lol.

the 01-04 tacos have "normal" horns like other trucks have so that would be my first choice.

on my 99 I put the pair of wolo horns and they work and sound good but stand out like sore thumb with the hood open. if I were to ever do it again I would source a used set from 01-04 or paint the wolo horns flat black so its not so obvious aftermarket look.

Problem is that Toyota, as usual, gouges you for their parts and each horn (high and low) is about $60.

anything like that oem new is way overpriced, that's why I said source a used one. you can find them at salvage yards or from someone selling parts for like $10

I just bought a pair of Wolo high and low horns on ebay for $30. I'll update after I have them installed.

Yup, horn sucks in my 99, guy I bought the truck from put some shit parts store air horn in it, I felt like Burt and Ernie in traffic.

Stock now, but want something better, few days ago was sitting for a good 5 seconds+ at a light 3 cars back laying on the horn as the jackass at the front was not paying attention, don't know why people are such pussies with their horn, nobody in front of me was using theirs and mine obviously wasn't getting the point across.

Liked the horn in my 92 Chevy fullsize, think that's what I'll go back to, cheap to find, no meep meep and much louder

But what do your horns sound like? im sure which sound comes out is the most important factor in buying a new horn. it is for me and the op at least.
