Time to exploit the knowledge of my fellow Taco owners. Ok I have read 5 or 6 threads where people have this HU. however, they all seem to be Gen 2 Tacos. I have a Gen 1. I currently have a single DIN Alpine HU installed but am looking to upgrade. However, as much as Crutchfield and other sites tell me this unit will fit my truck, I can't find the installation bracket(s) anywhere.

On a side note, do any Gen 1 owners have a compact sub box in the back of their X-cab that maybe only takes up 1/2 of the backseat??? If so, do you have pics and was it a custom job?

    Thanks all,

    Ryan

By brackets, are you refering to the installation kit? And when you say you cannot find them, do you mean they are sold out?

Yes the installation kit. All I can find is the wiring harnesses. No I mean I can't find anywhere that sells the double Din style for the 04s. The only ones I can find have the single DIN with the pocket below the radio.

I see what you mean. I poked around at the usual places. Seems to me like the pocket would pop out, or you could cut it out. Just have to do a little fabbing of your own.

The stock brackets should work. The single din with pocket is just the plastic pocket that bolts into the stock brackets. So all you should need is the wiring harness.

My new alpine went in the top of the stock bracket, and my stock stereo came off the bottom of the bracket. So judging by the pics, and the fact that new went in top, and stock came out of the bottom, the stock brackets should work. Hope this helps.
