New in the USA: RLD Design

I did. Seems to work great. Had I only used 4, I would probably have used two holes on each foot (drilled) but it is super solid so I simply used the 6 manufacture holes and the center hole on each mount foot. About 2 months ago, I was curious if anything was bent or if the holes were growing from wear.....nothing. still solid.

 

@_1_YOTA thank you! You did what I was thinking but wasn’t sure it would work. I still have time before mine is delivered. I’ve got more research to do!

 

Bolted 6 of the stock feet through the predrilled holes in the shell and it is solid. I've had a RTT mounted for a few months and no issues.

 

@MAVEN4 did you use the tent feet as well?

 

No the tent was secured directly to the crossbars on the rack.

 

@MAVEN4 and you used the feet to attach the rack?

 

Yes I used the rack feet to secure through the pre drilled holes in the canopy. I'd take a picture but I've taken the rack off and have gone to 2 Yakima HD crossbars bolted on to the canopy. I like the look more and can mount my Yakima bike and kayak racks easier.

 

@MAVEN4 that was my other option. It’s lighter too.

 

Yes lighter and I like the mounting interface a lot better. I bought 2 of the bars and cut them down to fit. Give me a few and I'll take a few pictures.

@Maven was any modifications to the rld canopy necessary for the yakima bars? Sounds like it bolted right in from what you wrote.

I want to load my 14 foot kayak on the truck. Rld rack is a much more expensive option.

 

No mods I used 4 of the holes in the roof to mount it. The HD bars have tracks on the top and bottom so I just used T-bolt's through the shell holes and bolted them down with some sealant.

 

Anyone install the cubby? I have a V1 and the instructions say it attaches to t slots in the roof. Doesn’t really make sense to me. There’s no rails on the roof, unless it just mounts to the holes in the roof.

I have the half cubby and used the back 2 holes from the roof for the "L" bracket to attach the top and the base bolts to the shelf on the side of the canopy. I received a cubby originally which wouldn't fit and found out that it wasn't for a Tacoma. Once I received the correct cubby it was a perfect fit, I did have to drill out an extra hole but other than that it was a quick install. Feel free to DM if I didn't answer your question or send some pics, I'm more than happy to do the same

 

So they sent me the wrong brackets, I ended up making my own. Kinda wish I had the correct ones.

 

Taiwanese whiskey! You dont see that often in the US but it is good stuff. I have toured their distillery

 

Funny story. Father in law is Taiwanese and doesn’t drink. He got this as a gift and gave me this bottle. I knew it was good, but didn’t know how fancy it was. A few friends and I tapped into it. Only after visiting a fancy whiskey bar did I realize how expensive the bottle I tapped into was. Haha. Whoops, but it was good. Have half left. Haha. Was still worth it.

 

No, no good for you! Good whiskey and beautiful women are made to be enjoyed… if you are lucky, at the same time.

The funny thing is that when i was in Taiwan, they were pushing jack daniels and johnny walker hard but never kavalan.

When some buds and I went to a club in Taipei, we got a whole bottle of Jack and a six pack of cokes for like $15.
