I just bought a used Gen 1 RLD camper and want to fit the Gen 3 flush glass on both sides. I have left messages for RLD and they are on hold or on the way out with support in the USA for their product. Ideally, if someone can tell me the dimensions and more specifically the manufacturer of the flush glass, I can try the manufacturer of the windows directly to see if they would sell me a pair. Alternatively, if someone knows of a similar sized, similar look window that is available in the marketplace, that would be appreciated as well. I did. Doesn't sound like any of their dealers can get anything. I found the AM Auto Bonded Bunk Window that might work, just wanted something in between their small and large window and couldn't find anything. Thanks for the input!

Been caught up traveling on the road & working remotely. Haven’t had time to check & update things here on TW.

Used Lowe’s Hillman stainless steel (SS) components (forgot the measurements, will update sku & sizes once I sort & find the receipts, otherwise, the identifiers on the hardware are shown in the pictures):

    X4 - HM 5/16 IN-18 X 2-IN HXCP SC carriage bolts (GAT)
    X4 - HM 5/16-IN 1” FLAT FENDER WASH 18-8 (ZBA)
X4 - HM smaller flat washers to fit in between the mount (ZAE)
X4 - SS nylon lock nuts (important so it doesn’t come loose)

Long bed version. Wanted to use 6 bolts instead of 4 to make it more secure, but didn’t align properly & avoiding drilling holes into the canopy. After 2k+ miles of travel, it seems to hold up fine loaded with a 60lb awning. One thing to note when using these carriage bolts is you need to apply top pressure so it won’t spin when ratcheting. It does slightly catch within the canopy holes though. Once caught & secured used an impact wrench to tighten the nylon lock nut. Went with longer bolts since I plan to use the excess length in the future. A lot of trial & error but it did the job.

    Hope this helps someone out.

Can you repost the link again. Trying to install the 3rd brake light on my RLD, unless someone else has info or a diagram. Thanks in advance.

I figured it out. Used an adapter from FBC harness solutions (Daveeasa). Two wires one positive, one negative. Only issues is that there is no constant on when the headlights are turned on. The 3rd brake light only activates when I apply the brake.

I’m interested in replacing my Snugtop fiberglass topper on my 2nd Gen Tacoma long bed for something stronger and lighter.

How much does does this camper shell weigh compared to the fiberglass camper shell?

When I was researching before purchasing RLD, supposedly the RLD canopy is lighter.

Not sure for 2nd gen, specs for 3rd Gen:

    185 lbs. Long Bed (https://www.rlddesignusa.com/p/toyota/tacoma/tacoma-truck-cap-canopy/)

    ~240 lbs. Short Bed? (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/snug-top-rebel-question.462420/)

Any current/previous RLD owners have a half cabinet for the Tacoma canopy for sale?

Does anyone know where I could get replacement latches? All four of the side windows are bent.
I've tried reaching out to RLD via email and IG a while ago but have not recieved any response.

    -Thanks in advance!

Hello! Hoping someone here can help provide some guidance on mounting options for the rld canopy for 2nd gen tacoma (although might be same as 3rd gen... not sure). I found a used topper but the seller lost the mounting hardware. Based on the pics I've see it doesn't look like standard bed clamps will work. That being said, a few rail inserts and a L bracket looks like it might work just fine. Even thinking of getting a 1/4" thick aluminum L Chanel and drilling holes wherever the bolt holes align. Hoping someone here can provide some advice, at a minimum I need something that will hold the shell to my truck for the ~6hr drive back home until I can spend time on a permanent solution. Any thoughts?

Not sure if this helps, but here is a shot of the hardware I got with mine for reference. I'm sure you could make some COTS hardware work just fine.

Just use a c clamp for now it will hold it in place and find a fabricator who can make you one. RLD Kahnopee sucks ass. Same goes for the OP of this this thread. Won’t respond to any inquiries. They stopped servicing here in the US and I can’t stand them for cutting off services like this here. Be sure to check your latches as well as the struts too as they too may be an issue in the future. If you try to replace it with the original latches that came with it from South Africa, good luck. They’ll charge an arm and a leg, a kidney and your first new born.

Thanks. Yea, I read through some of the threads and RLD sounds super shady. Not my first choice out of the rsi/alucab/rld options but can't beat the price for the used cap. There are some c-clamps that fit into the tacoma track I'm going to try. It'll be temporary anyway. Thanks for the help!
