Thanks!! Just some paint damage and the rear door got bent. Getting a replacement rear door and taking to a body shop for paint next week. A little inconvenient but Tom at Adventure Mobile has been great.

Are those pack mounts going to be an option or something that can be added later?

Has anyone installed a frontrunner or prinsu rack on one of these?

If it’s any consolation, the gofastcampers fit all 3 gens, and the alucab for the gen 2 Tacoma’s fit the first gens. I’d be willing to bet that the 2nd gen version of this will fit the first gen.

I ended up getting one and had it installed last weekend. Plan on putting a frontrunner rack on it once that shows up.

These are badass! Wish I had the need for one. This would definitely be my choice over the others I’ve seen

I had mine installed at rhino adventure gear's shop, really great people over there. Very helpful and knowledgeable, took them longer to show me around the shop and talk about the canopy than it did to install it

@808_tacoma did you ever install your rails and RTT?

My install was pretty quick, but my canopy got pretty banged up during ships. For the rack, my Smittybilt tent rails didn’t quite line up so that I could install the tent centered (the bolts hit the raised sections of the canopy), but works out in some ways to allow for a awning later on one side. I don’t have a pic of it centered, but here’s a few of the tent mounted

That looks clean! You used the RLD direct mount crossbars? I have a Frontrunner rack that should be at my door today that I'm going to install hopefully this weekend. Time to put some more holes in the RLD! :sawzall:

Yea, I used the cross bars from RLD. I'm interested to see how your rack install goes!

Any plans for different paddle latches for securing the canopy doors? I still have problems with the AluCab canopy latches freezing shut in our PNW weather. The RLD latches look to be the same ones.

That's an interesting dilemma and point... I'm crossing my fingers, but here in the South East don't see that being an issue. :)

It's an issue that popped up right after I picked up my AluCab from Adventure Ready. GFC uses the same latch and said that they were redesigning it to avoid the issue but I haven't heard or seen any design updates from them.

The problem is that it doesn't even have to rain. Temps drop in the evening and condensation forms on the canopy and in the lock mechanism. Temp keeps dropping until everything freezes. Then you go out in the morning and you can't open the canopy. Same thing happens if I drive through rain on my way to the mountains. I have to carry a bottle of rubbing alcohol in the truck cab so that I can pour it on the latches when they freeze this time of year.

I haven’t had my Alu Cab through winter yet but my latches get gunked up with dirt and I have to pry them with a knife a bit to open them. The latches should have a place to pull on them to open them when they freeze or get dirty.

When I picked mine up, Joost at Rhino Adventure Gear told me that it was only recently that the RLD canopies came with the third brake light, and mine was one of the first ones he had seen with the brake light. When I wired mine up, I found that I had just enough wire to hook it up to my brake lights.
