Just thought I'd post this up here as there's been a bit of discussion about Fast Rings and their effectiveness. This new design, made of silicone, seems like it will actually help keep sonic energy out of the cavity between the door card and skin.

I'm just gonna copy the whole crosspost from diyma minus the commentary:

    Silicone Speaker Baffle Kits
Enhance speaker performance with new foldable silicone speaker baffles, designed to improve the directional flow of sound by focusing it out of the door panel and into the cabin. The durable silicone material seals the speaker against the interior panel and adds waterproof protection that can withstand harsh environments and extend speaker lifespan. The included egg foam goes behind the speaker to improve sound performance by preventing sound bounce back.

So this one is more of a shroud? The backside is still open?

Does anybody worry about the affect of environment/moisture/etc on the part of the speakers that are inside the door?

Well, the big idea behind these things is channeling acoustic energy to the desired areas and keeping it out of others. Yes, the back side is open and needs to be. This piece actually looks like it'll at least somewhat protect the back of the cone from falling water.

Moisture is a big consideration in doors though...which is one of the reasons I don't like open-cell foam in doors. It holds water, which can encourage mold growth. If I were to use these, and I'd certainly give 'em a go, the foam piece would go in the spare parts bin to be repurposed.

I've never seen any evidence of water in my 1st gen doors, but like to at least cover the top half of my drivers just in case.
