I currently have a tan/beige interior in a DC and i want so badly to switch it to silver, and get dark leather seats.. i know there is quite a long list of items i will need to replace:

    floor carpet
    entire roof panel
    front and side panels
    door panels
    bottom half of dash
    center console
    visors
plastics: lights and panels in roof

    and possibly more...

has anyone tried this, or does it even seem possible?

i think that by searching around online for a while i could probably figure out how to replace all of this stuff, but i am not entirely sure...

yeah, but if u can find one thats fairly new and only took body/frame damage, then u should have a good chance of finding all the interior pieces

Step bars, billet grill with custom TOYOTA, MB Quart RSI 216 components, Hifonics ZXi 4410, RAAMmat deadened doors/back wall/roof covered with ensolite , 24" Magnaflow muffler, hand polished stock exhaust tip, tinted, OEM TRD Bilstiens all around with 1/4" spacers up front to level it out. Sport wheels added.
of course it's doable. All that matters is how much effort you want to put into it.

    Quite possibly, someday...
There was a guy on the Mazda forums that made his Protege's interior black from tan and besides his parking brake and shifter, he had replacement parts form people on the forum, the junkyards, and then some handy black spraypaint helped him out with the finishing touches. (like his steering wheel)

Overall it looks great now but it took him quite a few months to get all the parts and paint them and do the install himself.

Seems like a lot of work for little gain. I would probably just get leather seats in a color that you like and be done. May consider trading.

    Lots baby!
There are several people on XRU that have painted their hard plastic interior pieces with good results using a Kylon Fusion paint. You may want to do a search on that site and see some of the results.
