It looks cool. but, i really have to question its usefulness. Especially for the price. To fragile and too big to really carry around everywhere. with no physical keyboard there's no way you can replace a laptop with it. Only place i see it being cool to use is at home.

I won't be buying it anytime soon if ever, but if the good ol' boys over at the Apple Store wanna give me one then they are more than welcome too. :D it looks really cool but I'll be sticking to my iPod touch and 13" MacBook Pro.

I think its cool and all, but I just don't see the point. My MacBook does a pretty good job at doing all that stuff, too. I don't need a touch screen.

You are all missing the point- it's basic purpose is to compete with the popular bookreaders which are the size of ipods and cost $250-350... For $500 you get a virtual book store, internet browser, and video player that's the size of a magazine. It's genius.

I highly doubt that, with the cult following Apple has the iPad will probably be a huge hit among its customers.

Did you know Apple sold over 250,000,000 iPods since 2001...iPad will do fine.

But, as a reader its subpar. the glory of an ereader with an epaper display is that they use very very very little battery. the battery on the kindle lasts a week on one charge with wireless on. plus epaper displays are very high contrast and easy to read in direct sunlight. something i doubt this is capable of.

I think it would be cool to take notes on in class. Other than that, I don't know how much I would use it.

I gotta say, I've been using apple products almost exclusively for the last 6 years and this iPad seems to serve absolutely no purpose. It's not a phone, it's not a laptop, and it's not a desktop. For some reason manufacturers think there is a market for a device in between a phone and a laptop. Netbooks are really nothing more than scaled down, cheaper laptops. Increase the capabilities of your phone or make your laptop cheaper, problem solved. It doesn't require an entirely new product.

Yeah, but to take notes you'd need one of those goofy keyboards. If you're going to use it for actual work, get a netbook or something.

Just having the apple logo on it doesnt mean it will sell. Just look at Apple TV. that thing was a total flop.

Not worth it IMO. I'll keep my laptop and my iPhone and do everything that does plus some, and i wont shell out $500+ dollars to do it.

you won't need a keyboard within 2 weeks there will be a touch writing app for sure...

I am not an apple guy (in fact I just called mac users ghey) but this thing is neat. It would be perfect for at home or traveling. The touch screen is neat too...

oh I just thought of this today while I was buying my Droid phone (lol)...

technically if you want to get away from AT&T you could buy service thru Verizon and utilize one of those MiFi mobile hot spots w/ only the wifi enabled version of the iPad... btw, you can use the iPod touch this way EVEN the iPhone utilizing WiFi to connect to the MiFi and letting the MiFi connect to Verizon's 3G network.

I probably won't be buying one under the 2nd iteration like I did with the Ipod and the Ipod touch

    I'm using:
    Apple:
    iPod classic (80 gb)
    iPod touch (16 gb)
    iPod Nano (16 gb)
    Google:
    Motorola Droid phone
    Droid Eris
    Microsoft (Dell and HP)
    3 PCs (1 running vista, 1 running xp, and 1 running 7)
    Sony:
    PS3 and PSP...

not to mention my TV and numerous other gadgets

I support all consumer electronic companies (lol)
