So this is what I got. Regular scheduled maintenance should keep the truck going for a long time. If something wears out, replace it. Not a lot of other maintenance needed.
What happened with my transmission is not common for Toyotas, but it can happen. Try to find a shop I can trust. Get a couple of opinions from a couple different shops. Learn everything I can about the issue. Etc.
I have a new issue. The transmission has been fixed. $3,300. The truck still has a vibration. The shop said it's an issue with the tires. I had the tires balanced and rotated. Still vibrating. What could it be?

When are the vibes showing up?..... at what speeds? Do they disappear at a certain speed?

    Need more info.

The vibrations are at 30 to 40 mph. After 40 mph, goes away. Two different kinds of vibrations. Getting worse as truck gets warmer.
