Does it have an integrated DSP? If not, it's just another amp in my eyes.

Within reason an amp only amplifies power, without a sound processer it's no better than it's source. If the source is not good, the output from the amp is not good. Even with mediocre speakers a DSP can do wonders with changing time alignment and giving the amp a clean source. As long as it does it clean and efficiently, it's not worth spending piles of money on one. There is far more that goes into a stereo like speaker placement, dampening, speaker crossovers and timing. Most people can't tell the difference in sound whether it's a JL amp, MacIntosh amp or NVX (cheap) assuming they are all the same power and operate within their clean power range.

Not sure what the point of your post is and don’t know what a “thumper” is. I’m guessing you’re saying the amp makes your system loud so everyone around you can hear the noise. Great, just great.

Most people also can't tell the difference in a stereo with or without DSP, crossovers, timing or that other stuff you mentioned lol.

Thats very true! Many just want deep bass that goes boom boom! haha

For me it's not worth changing speaker positions in my car, lots of work involved!! I'll just deal with and make it sound the best I can with what I have. I'm not dumping thousands into a system, just not worth the effort to me. Kudos on the OP in choosing quality equipment. But I've yet to hear a difference in only changing an amp unless it was underpowered. Heck, I even added an amp and alpine deck to stock speakers in a Grand Prix and couldn't believe how well those sounded. Then I replaced them and didn't notice a massive difference until I added a sub and lessened the low frequency levels on the speakers.

JL Audio's RD400/4 4-channel amplifier will power each front and rear speaker with 75 watts RMS also The RD400/4 plays your music with true fidelity and impressive impact, without straining your car's electrical system, thanks to JL Audio's proprietary NexD™ amplifier technology. "Differential-balanced" inputs keep the incoming signals clear of outside noise and allow you to connect this amp to just about any radio. The speaker-level inputs feature two auto turn-on modes so you can readily incorporate this amp into a factory system — no need for RCA connections or a remote turn-on lead for this setup. In my case, I have Kenwood's DDX5707S that was designed to work with an amp like this.

Single component. How'd you tune it? Did you tune it?

In my experience people CAN tell the difference if they've ever been able to discern the direction from which sounds come, any variance in frequency or volume. It's the product of the components you list, and subtracting each changes the output of the system. I've only worked on custom car stereos a few years, but the differences are obvious when someone sits you down and adds a component at a time.

I had the deck, speakers, and the amp installed by the same company Audio Express in Richmond Va. this was my first professionally installed system I really have no experience with Audio systems the last time I put a radio in a car it was an old Camaro.

Old Camaro? Cool! You can now listen to something other than Styx albums.

Hope it's providing the tunes you want with the satisfaction you desire. Happy new stereo!

Do you know of another place to mount an amp in this truck? and it is mounted not just thrown under the seat.

o_O a shoebox looks like it has more room. My bad. The amp looks like it's not secured from that pic tho.

That's what I should have said. :hattip:

I remember when aftermarket car audio was a thing.

Now I’m just old, but the “premium” sound option in most vehicles is good enough.
