sooo i went into this job office to pick up an application today at a local freight delivery company, was expecting to pick up the application and turn it back in tomorrow.

asked for an application, she asked my age, 25, then she asked if i had my CDL, yes, then she asked if i had HAZMAT, yes, then she told me to take a seat and she'd be with me in a few minutes, not even a minute went by and these two guys come out of an office and bring me into a conference room, they start interviewing me right then and there... first question. hows my driving record, clean, second question, whats your criminal record, clean, then they asked a few other questions relating to past experience and why i wanted the job...

within 15 min they said i had the job and within 5 minutes i was in a truck with another employee. :yay::yay::yay:

i cant believe they didnt ask me to fill out any paper work or actually run my background check, (i had a copy of my MVR already) or fill out a W-4 or I-9... spent the whole day doing deliveries and pick ups and got back to the office and then they gave me the paperwork, time badge, door card... AND A NEW IPHONE!

i was like really, WTF! but whatevvvvvs! i got a job! with no formal driving experience. and beat the odds of people saying i couldnt get a local driving job without going over the road truck driving

    Been following your posts...Congratulations!!!!
I started jamming gears in 1970 hauling rocks and dirt, later flatbeds hauling whatever the hell would fit on them, then oilfield fracking/trucking for Halliburton, it goes on....I ain't gonna preach at you, just encourage you to "live in the moment" . If you're trucking-have nothing but trucking on your mind. Same as when you're packing that chute or standing in the door waiting for your jump masters signal....Live in the moment...Best of Luck to you!!!! Hank

OP, sounds like you were at the right place-right time. Congrats.
Be mindful, if they hired you quickly...they may fire you quickly as well

Btw, crazy that they put you to work w/o paperwork done, seems a risk-liability on their part.

thanks man, its always good to get positive feedback from someones who's done it for years!

yea i was way surprised, even the guy who trained me was like WTF, but yes your right, the guy training me also said if they dont like you, you wont stay long. but i did pretty damn good today and yesterday so i have good feeling ill be here till i make it to north dakota

its an awesome feeling to prove the naysayers wrong! but thanks for following, i still have a long way to go and WILL!!! make it out to north dakota, just not when i wanted to but thats life right... bottom line, ill skydive my ass off one day. thanks again

after 25+ apps turned in out there and the only promising one was giving me the short end of the stick. i had to take what i could haha dont worry! it wont be to much longer and ill be there. a friend mentioned this job in salt lake and well, it literally "fell in my lap" hahaha

That's awesome and like someone else said, you were there at the night time. Glad you got paper work done.

I work with teenagers and hire 600+ a summer. MOST don't have their SSN memorized, fill out their W-4, I-9 and leave them blank. Summer comes around and they haven't called our office with their numbers and work, essentially, two weeks for free. We always hound them fork their number and it takes forever. Its so important i don't understand wh they don't memorize it.

    But again, awesome job OP.
