Been very tempted to jump on the joying train, but when I got in contact with their customer support it looked like they had a new unit coming out soon. Well it's finally here. It's very similar to their older units, but it runs 5.1 Lollipop and has 2GB of RAM instead of just 1GB.

Here's the link, I think it's finally time to jump aboard, anyone else looking at this unit?

I'm in the market for a new head unit. Was considering buying a factory head unit from ebay for a clean install but the feature-set / freedom just inst there for the cost involved -- even with used components. This seems more practical on all fronts.

That said, from looking at the MFG website, they already have some model specific head units developed which utilize built factory-like controls/ buttons / knobs, etc. As far as I can tell there isn't a Tacoma specific model [yet].

So far on TW, I found a review from last year on the JY-UQ124 model.

I'm not much of an audio guy in the vehicle I work far too much to really have any time to enjoy music. I need a good navigation system and I need hands free talk ability.
I went form a Jeep Commander that I used a lot of business. The factory head unit, and ability to make and have phone calls over Bluetooth while driving is something I must have. This 2006 truck has the base head unit and I need to do something within the next few weeks.

Can anyone comment how well these "joying" units work for hands free?

2nd Gen Tacos are not exactly the quietest out their either.

I'm told it's not compatible with the iphone 7 so I will try to find another unit. Everything I found said these are pretty damn good though.

I ordered a head unit. Should arrive next week. Will post updates once installed. Was a bit histant to order at first but from what I've read the update fixes the majority of the bugs that had me worried

Good to know, I think I'm going to order it as well. With it being 30% off on Amazon right now, I think it's worth a shot.

I wish i could help, but I know very little about car audio installation. From what I have heard if you email Joying they are pretty good about getting back to you with good information.

I'd be interested in hearing about this, too.
I was looking at the Pumpkin head unit... which honestly looks exactly the same... But this one costs more?
I'll be installing in a 2000 TRD. Will I need a trim or mounting kit?

Also, any suggestions on installing a backup camera? I'd like to do it so that I can have a "push button on" and not just come on when the reverse lights come on...

That was a typo, meant to say 10% off = $30

Your best bet is to email Joying with your truck specs and with a photo of the connectors on the back of your stock unit. Their english isn't the best, but they are very responsive and helpful.

From what I've been able to tell Joying has better spec'd units and better customer service. I'd need a pic of your dash to know if you need a trim kit, you're basically installing a double DIN unit.

As far as the backup camera, there is a trigger input that you can wire to a switch, that will be how you can have it click on, on demand.

That's helpful. I'm just wondering if they're all the same... or at least all come off of the same production line but Joying gets the ones that have been "checked better" and also has better customer service.

I'm in a stock 2000 ext cab Tacoma. It has a double din radio spot but can post pics later if needs be.

Thanks. I didn't see that on the specs. Does that trigger also provide power to the camera?

I installed one of these chinese HU's in my 2014 FJ. Really liked the android Auto integration for google maps and all around interface of andriod. The HU worked well but then crapped out after 6 months. I contacted the vendor for warranty work but shipping to/from china would have been $200 at buyers cost, more than half the price of the HU. I do not recommend this unit.

Wish I had that lnfo sooner , I guess I" ll find out , paid $275 , If it goes KAPUT , I"ll buy American made ,
What I like about this unit is
Voloum knob , PIP , and 7 inch screen quality, and can set start up time , (instant on )
I never did find that with any other brand ?
    Good luck to me .

It's only $275 so doesn't brake the bank if it does go south, the interface really is nice. The 1.5+ year version I had took 15-20 seconds to boot so sounds like they made some improvements. Best part is the cheesy chinese gangnam style dance demo videos on the drive if you ever get stranded in the woods for long period of time.
