I wonder if buying through Amazon would actually help with that...
What was the issue with your HU?

Amazon warranty conditions state no shipping cost to buyer, but that depends if vendor agrees with conditions of a warranty repair. Most reputable vendors in USA this is non-issue, but with these chinese vendors your guess is as good as mine. As I shared above they wouldn't pay for my shipping via an ebay purchase, and clearly a warranty issue at least in my mind.

This. Everyone one I've read that bought one of these HU's had issues within the 1st year.

You get what you pay for.

I guess then the question is is there an alternative that has good quality.
I was looking through the crutchfield site and didn't see much in the way of choices that had these features (they have some, or most, but not all and a lot of them had crap displays... and I definitely didn't see any that had a physical knob for volume.)

I got mine installed last week. I bought the Toyota Hilux harness they sell on Amazon and it connected up perfectly. I was missing two plugs, which might be for the steering wheel controls, not 100% sure. I just emailed them today about it.

As for everything else, it works perfectly for me, I love it. Loaded up google maps, waze, pandora, plex, Netflix, YouTube it all works great. I use my phone as a hotspot on the road and use my house wifi when I'm in the driveway.

Once I figure out the streeting wheel controls I'll be happy. I have not tapped into my backup cam, but I kinda like it in the mirror.

It's fast, the first time I booted it it took a sec, but since then it's been almost instant. I went in vacation for a week and just came back and it booted up just as fast.

Have you taken any trips using google maps yet? I love GM's and think it would be a dream running this head unit.

I'm kinda leery because first gen head units are so low in the dash.

I'm guessing his had to do with using the ISO harness not the car specific one.

Just around town, it works great, I love it. But I can see where you'd be worried about having it too low in the dash.
