Damn that sucks...def a hit or miss. Sorry to hear about your troubles. Hopefully we get an official android headunit. I recall Parrot was suppose to be coming out with a badass android head unit with some promising specs but they scrapped it completely...WHY!?!?!?!

I used to bluetooth to call my dad, he said the audio wasn't the best. I assume partially because I never mounted the mic. But I'm not a fan of bluetooth calls to begin with, so I haven't really tinkered with it much.

    I'm in a First Gen.
I'm actually considering mounting it overhead... but, I don't know. That's A LOT of customization.
My other option is to reroute the dials for the AC/Vents and swap spots in the center of the dash.

My 135 showed up today. Ordered the universal Toyota adapter from Joying as well. Went with the Metra kit for my 12.

As reported, the bezel trim doesn't fit, due to the Joying being exactly the double din dimensions. Fine top and bottom, but each side had to lose 2mm.

To fit flush, on the Metra I also had to trim off a 2.5mm raised perimeter inside the fascia. This is out of sight, so no worries about the look, but to get the fascia to snap in to the dash, it had to go. A new blade on a box cutter knife did the job fine, just be patient.

The harness is plug and play. The antenna is as well. Add per what others had said, GPS antenna just sits on top of the radio, still got reception in the garage.

    Fast boot, maybe a second.

I have to figure out how to turn off that fucking button beeper, wasn't able to on a quick mess with the settings.

No steering wheel controls, something else to sort.

Gotta figure out how to get the Bluetooth settings page like on my phone so I can synch my obd2 as well.

Work on progress a bit, but I'm liking it.

Got mine to work on my 12. Found the key learning page, followed the bouncing ball, and they work now.

Can you link to the universal Toyota wire harness adapter and the "key learning page"?

    Thank you!

I'm in Canada, so it was shipped from the China warehouse, took a week.

Americans get it from the us warehouse, should be quicker.

I ordered from Amazon, it came direct from China in under a week. They shipped it DHL.

Still no issues here, I love it.

I ordered the universal Toyota harness after the suggestion here and confirmation from the joying customer service team. Hopefully that will get my steering wheel controls working.

When I swap that harness out I will also tap into the factory backup camera.

Decided to tap into the backup camera today, I got impatient. It took 30 min, max. Works great. For reference, the joying harness says "BACK" for the reverse trigger. I used this thread for reference:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/oem-camera-connection-below-dash.30889/

The backup camera now shows up on the mirror and headunit when in reverse. Joying gives the option for guide lines and also to mirror the image in case your image doesn't come up correctly. My photo below is before I turned off the lines and image mirror.

Ordered mine Monday and it's arriving tomorrow, Wednesday. The wiring harness looks like next week, so I will also post updates when I install.

I currently have the schoshe mount because I like the look better than the Metra, but the metra may fit it better from the looks of these posts. Anyone try mounting one of these into a schoshe?

    Which mirror is that?
I may need to do something like that until I can save up for the headunit...
Also, is the 2GB version really worth the extra $80?

This mirror came stock with my vehicle from Toyota.

IMO the 2GB RAM is worth it, you run alot of RAM on an android just running the OS, having some buffer definitely makes things smoother.

Swapped out the harness from the Hilux to the standard Toyota one and now the steering wheel controls work. Just have to program them in the car settings menu.

Harness (Shows not available on Amazon): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0152HE3RQ/
    From joying: https://www.carjoying.com/joying-ha...ndroid-joying-car-stereo-radio-head-unit.html

I also installed this instead of the factory Aux plug, so now I have aux and USB to the deck. Also works to charge my iPhone.

    Cable for AUX: https://www.amazon.com/TNP-3-5mm-Stereo-Audio-Adapter/dp/B01DZV37VY/
