i just got off the phone with pro comp and this is exactley what the rep said. the only steel wheel that will fit 100% is the 87 series. these do not have the "flare".

What's up fellas! my bad haven't been on TW for a while..but anyways, prior to even buying these wheels I called around as well and everyone said that it won't fit even though people where rocking these wheels without any spacers. At the time 4wheelparts only had one wheel available and it was a 4.25 back space, so I went ahead and had them test fit it for me and it fit just fine. I had them special order me the same wheel but with a 4.00 BS and when they finally arrived they also fit perfect without any spacers...here are some pics I took like 10 months ago:

Maybe that 4 versus 4.25 bs is just enough to make it work. You'd think pro comp and 4wp would figure it out in the interest of selling wheels and just have the 4 inch as the available option for tacoma on the 52s, etc.

I believe the reason why they say it won't fit is because on certain year tacomas they don't fit, but not sure which years. Possibly on certain years, the brake caliper was designed slightly different and due to that the wheel would scrape....your best bet is to test fit it, if the wheel spins in the air, you're good to go..

I talked to a pro comp rep and he mentioned something about that. there were 2 moldings for the calipers. one happens to run a little thicker. so basically its a hit or miss. thats why he said they cant say that they will fit "all" tacomas. its basically a gamble. if it dont fit, ship it back. im not much of a gambler, so i went with the 87 series. will fit 100%. not as nice as your rims tho

Thanks...Yupp,that's right...If you order it from 4wheelparts, you should have them test fit it for you. If it doesn't fit I believe they take care of the shipping and everything..

My apologies if my info is incorrect. I did some research on these wheels because I had issues with them on my 85 4runner. In my research I found that the 52 and 98 series will not fit almost all Toyota trucks and suv's without spacers or caliper/wheel grinding. My 85 has larger calipers from a later model so I am using 1" spacers and my 15x8 52's have 2.5" b.s.

They weren't that generous when I talked to them about the 98's 3 days ago for my 2003. Parts guy was clear it was my problem if they didn't fit after I was cautioned. Given I have spacers available anyway, won't be an issue for me.

when it comes time for my wheels, theres a nice wheel shop that sells 15-24" wheels of many different kinds im gonna hit up, most everything in stock. and tires also, install on site so im gonna go look around there, and im most likely gonna go with 4" bs and to the [OP] you should turn white walls out. that would look sick on a white truck

I'm wanting some of those wheels on my '97 taco reg cab. Do I need spacers? 4wp is asking me if I have a 3.75 or 4.5 back space? WTH?

Sounds good..yea I thought of the white writing out, but thought it looks clean this way..although I still wouldn't mind doing that...I'm also thinking of maybe getting my wheels sprayed a flat white, something new

i would put some white accents on it. like centercaps, and wheel studs.
