i often ask myself why a government would want to deprive their citizens of firearms. sometimes i think they believe that there will be no more violence if there aren't any guns, other times i think it may be a guise of them "caring" about said citizen's safety, which i know is a lie. the only motivation our government has to actually "care" about us is the money that insurance companies give to politicians so they will pass new "safety laws" that keep us from being injured and keep them from having to pay claims. the theory of "no guns, no violence" has surely proved itself in california by now. take cocaine for example...the united states has no way to produce cocaine, it all has to be imported illegally, yet if one so desires, it can be aquired in any and all parts of the nation at any given time. so, if guns are no longer legal to own or manufacture in the us, they will simply be "imported" from another outside source, just like cocaine. at that point, only the criminals with the connections to import the firearms will be armed, and the average law abiding citizen will be at their mercy and completely dependant upon local and federal agencies for any form of so called "protection". i don't know about anyone else, but i would rather take the very small chance of becoming a statistic of gun violence, and retain my rights to defend myself, my family and my property, then to place all my "security" in the hands of a government who's sole desire is to constantly and consistantly increase in size and power and to preserve itself. the "rock pile" of our individual rights is continuously under assault and grows smaller everyday. they tell us that if we don't do what they say, we won't be "safe".

and then sometimes i just think they are trying to get an idea of, and reduce what they will be up against when people finally grow weary of their bullsh*t and tell them it's time to start over again...which in my opinion is overdue.

this new law really depresses me, because i know other states will follow california's lead in the near future.

I am glad to spread the word, and thanks for the kind words. I am just disappointed I caught it so late, being singed into law and all. I am trying to find the voting record for my Assemblyman for my District. His office and I communicate regularly--was just invited to an open house at the District Office...

Anyways, it will be an uphill battle to undo it now.

Consequently, I just found what appears to be a good resource at calguns.net (The California Firearms Enthusiast's Home On The Internet). They have a thread on AB 962 which is very detailed and dates back to its introduction into the State Assembly. These guys and gals appear to be very "on the ball."

i notice a lot of quotes from the founding fathers in this thread...does everyone realize they would all be imprisoned in this country today if they were to try to do exactly what they did in 1776? think about that...then look upon the republic of the united states with new eyes. we all have to stop being "lulled into submission" by big houses, plasma screens and fancy cars. we have become much too complacent in our society. i don't wanna give up my nice stuff anymore than the next guy...but i can, and i will if that's what it takes to ensure this nation reverts to and will continue to be the land of the free, with liberty and justice for all those who reside here.

    Free:
    1. Not imprisoned or enslaved; being at liberty.
    2. Not controlled by obligation or the will of another:

    Liberty:
    a. The condition of being free from restriction or control.
    b. The right and power to act, believe, or express oneself in a manner of one's own choosing.
    c. The condition of being physically and legally free from confinement, servitude, or forced labor.

    Justice:
    a. The quality of being just; fairness.

    Ok, why???

PS I love you sig :) You I bet your white and male too...The triple threat of evil!:D

I'm not racist but my school tells me that I am because I'm white male and I'm a conservative. That makes me the worst thing that walked the earth since Hitler.

I never used to notice if someone was black, white, red or brown until I started going to ASU...kind of sad aint it(excuse me.....is it not).
