Just had my rear leafs replaced and they are frowning. I am not referring to the overload leaf spring on the bottom of the leaf pack. The leaf springs above the bottom overload spring are bowed/arched. Please see pics below. Is this normal for new springs?

Where did those springs come from? They shouldn't be bent backwards. They look used with fresh paint.

Definitely not normal. New as in replaced within a few months or a year? Where did you source the spring?

I see you opted for the "Universal Group" leaf springs....I suspect those are utter shit. General Spring or OEM for factory replacement, otherwise, get lift springs.

You get what you pay for; those are cheap.

    Get rid of them.

Also, your shocks are due for replacing.

I put General springs on My 95 4x4 about 5 years ago...still holding up well. And I didn't even go with their heavy duty ones.

It has absolutely nothing to do with having blocks.

It sure looks like the springs bent right around those blocks !!

The weight of the truck is pounding the springs on the block at every bounce .

You might have the same issue no matter what springs you go to.

Given enough times both springs will break.

Nah just listen to Duckinatruck - the laws of physics don't apply to leaf springs

According to the OP, these pictures were taken the same day the springs were installed, so we are not observing any wear to speak of, unless the springs are used. It is true that blocks worsen axle wrap (blocks increase the torque or "leverage" that the axle can exert on the springs), but the laws of physics, as you have invoked, can NOT explain how blocks have inverted the spring arch when the truck is motionless, compared to the springs just sitting on the axle housing: lift blocks are unable to increase gravitational force. @Duckinatruck is correct on this count...think about it.

The block supports the spring no differently than the axle housing. The axle housing would therefore "pound the springs" just as much as the blocks. Using the same springs, OP would have this issue with or without blocks. Let's also not forget that these were installed the same day the pictures were taken.

OP has a big ass block; we can all agree that's not the best way to lift a vehicle.

OP bought a generic leaf pack that isn't worth using.

OP should simply return the leaf pack, spend only another 2-300 and purchase a set of OME Dakar's.

OP can then achieve an actual suspension lift, and get a leaf pack that'll outlast the current ones.

If I were leaf springs, and had shocks from the 1930s to dampen me, I'd be frowning too.

So lets imagine the three points of contact for these leaf springs: Point A is the static (front) hanger, Point B is the axle housing, and Point C is the shackle (rear) hanger. At rest points A and C are static and are meant to sit slightly above point B, giving the leafs a slightly curved arch. Now you go in and jack point B up by 4" with a block; points A and C have not moved but now point B is far higher relative to their position and the leafs are now inverted. Maybe more like geometry.
