so exciting!!! There is rain water hitting the driver side floor board by way of the hood release lever. I looked up in there, and although i can’t see the exact source, it’s coming from somewhere above the fuse box. Any ideas?

Do you have any aftermarket wiring through the firewall?

That’s where a lot of fire wall penetrations are, I’d think the linkage going to the break booster but it could be anything

No sunroof and no messing with welds. No modifications have been made up front. I did have the factory roof-rails removed, but i am not sure i can trace a good path from those roof grooves to the hood release latch area...

    Strange days...

I'm guessing since you removed roof rails, water is making it's way to A- pillar, and coming out by hood latch. As over60 mentioned silicone the rail holes.

I assume removing the weather stripping and reinstalling is fairly straightforward, but anytime i assume that, the work ends up being a shit show. If anyone has any tips and/or pointers for this operation, please let me know.

Tracing water is as easy as keeping track of homeless people. Always taking the path of least resistance. It's impossible to follow. Just think what you did differently and start there

They peel right off, make sure you have new and good double sided tape. You need to plug the holes beneath, and I can't believe whomever removed the rack didn't do this! Call and complain, also look for new shop.

You can buy the stock Toyota stickers that cover the holes when you don’t have rails. They’re like $2 or $3 each I think. Nice, heavy and durable.
