Ordered my Leer camper shell 9 days ago and it was installed yesterday! I went with a Leer 100xr with carpet healiner(free coupon) and had Thule Racks installed! The shell matches my Timberland Mica yoga well! Reason for the Leer Over ARE is simply the Glass no frame rear window and removeable screens so my labs can stick there head out! The Thule rack system was extra but will not void warranty on limetime shell warranty! All in at 2 grand! Little more than wanted to spend but happy with results! Show me your shell??? Tacomas look AWSOME with Camper Shells!

Looks great. Not sure I understand your Glass no frame rear window comment, though, since ARE, Leer, and Snugtop all offer frameless window models. Removeable screens weren't on the list of features I wanted, so I'm not sure about those. My research indicated they're all good choices and offer similar features. In the end, I went with ARE for several reasons. First, price - Snugtop was ~20% more expensive than Leer and ARE, which were within ~$50 of each other. ARE's hinges appear to be the biggest/strongest of the bunch. ARE's tip-out windows and rear door glass have the "cleanest" appearance, with no externally-visible rivets/connectors. ARE's strut warranty is a little longer. A friend who has a Leer, has a problem with his rear window "gasket" damaging the paint on his tailgate. It contacts the paint below the tailgate cap. My ARE rides on the tailgate cap, sparing the paint.

The rear window on my Leer is all glass (no frame) like my buddies ARE. I do not have a T handle just a small center twist lock that opens the hatch similar to a SUV.Both brands are killer and was price shopping rather than brand specific.

I've got the Leer 180 - my sliding windows don't have that big gap (lower back corner) within the recess that I see in your pic.

I think Tacomas look good with caps. Leer 100XQ. Suggestion I would make is to have someone spray it down with a hose while you are in the bed to look for leaks. My 3rd brake light was a waterfall from the factory's the hole was bigger than the gasket on the light.

I think the windoors on my shell are the best feature on it. I went with a JASON brand shell. I've had it for a year with no issues whatsoever. IMG_4111 (2).jpg

For sure. My windoors, if that's what you call them are key. Great for accessing stuff up towards the front of the cab without having to climb in through the back.
