I recently installed a 40" 540W light bar by Offroadtown, purchased on Amazon.

Since I have an Auxbeam AR-800, I figured I didn't need the included wiring harness. So I wired the bar direct to the Auxbeam (which is working for other items wired in to it) by removing the wiring harness connection from the bar and connecting the red and black directly.

I've tested the power supply using a light up probe/tester. I'm getting power all the way up to the bar, indicated by the probe, including past the butt splices connecting the original cable to the wiring I used to get to the Auxbeam.

The bar is hooked up to the Auxbeam using a 40A fuse, which is what came in the box.

The one thing I didn't check before I started cutting stuff apart was whether or not it actually worked. Yeah, hindsight is 20/20. I've included some photos, knows if they're helpful or not.

Any help those of you more experienced than I can offer would be appreciated.

Big question…the Ar800, from the product photos the max circuit is a 30a but you are running 40?

If that is the case perhaps some safety mechanism on the switch panel is refusing to run that circuit as it’s sensing too much current. My only guess.

Take the wire leads for the bar and run directly to your battery as a test. If it turns on then it’s the auxbeam panel.

Your first question, I was incorrect about the 40a fuse. Its a 20a inline on the wiring harness.

First problem, I had it plugged in to the wrong slot on the bus. It was in a 10a fuse slot, and the fuse had blown. So I switched it to a 20a slot (and replaced the 10A fuse). Tested that, fuse intact, no light.

Next test, disconnected the light bar from the extension I wired to the panel with. Just the red and black straight from the light bar, nothing. (confirmed the battery is charged)

Looks like I'll be returning it. Any suggestions on 40" bars?

You're going to return it after you cut the harness?! Did it work before you cut the harness? Where did you cut the harness? What does your setup look like now?

Item description says 540W, which is 45A. I don't see any other power claims in the listing.

Its not a return, its a warranty claim.

The harness was not cut, you can check in the photo. The male end of the coupler was removed on the bar wire to expose the +/- wires.

Manufacturer sent a 20a fuse and it hasn't blown yet.

You said nothing of a warranty. I see nothing in your pictures that show a plug opened up to expose wires. That wiring harness is completely useless to you if you're hooking up to an Auxbeam.

I have my light bar run directly to my Auxbeam controller/grounded right next to the Auxbeam. I cut the plug off of the light bar and ran wires from it to the controller. Before I cut the plug, I ran test wires from my battery to the plug to verify the light bar worked.

It's really hard to guess what your problem is or how you're trying to connect the light bar off of the pictures you provided.

I'll go with the people who are actually offering suggestions rather than looking for points to criticize. But thank you anyway.
