I was installing my new lower ball joint when I noticed there’s no play in the joint. I tried pushing on it without success and I’m too scared to hammer it in case I damage the threads. Installing the new joint is almost impossible without being able to bend it and adjust it to fit the position. Are there any ways to loosen the joint without hitting it?

Put the nut on it and tap it with a piece of would. The hammer handle would work too.
