I love original thinking. Have you done anything to the rear springs, it looks like holds the weight well. Does the truck feel tipsy at all?

    Guys-

I was half-heartedly searching the web for a pop-up camper that would fit into a double cab 5' bed. Check this thing out. It's extremely expensive, but a solid setup if you were truly interested in doing some overland expedition type stuff in your Taco.

By the way, you haters need to lay off this guy. He's got more ingenuity, time, effort, and heart in his mod than all of your store bought, bolt-on "mods" combined.

Wicked setup! I don't know if you live in bear country or not, but those pop-up, ie fabric sides don't protect much, at least you've got some solid wood for a bit of protection. It's too bad more people weren't interested in building their own stuff instead of buying some generic, off the shelf crap!

Bought it last week - weighs about 1100#. It's a 93 Six Pac Super. Taco carries it fine. I've got Super Springs installed. Added Tork-Lift tie downs and hit the road. First night was a blast! :):)
