Joined as I am looking for where Toyota hide the trailer brake connector inside Left Kick panel. Found what I was looking for to remove the foot rest, running panel and kick panel. Only thing I can find that isn't occupied is close, but connector doesn't match the what I have on the wiring harness I bought. Said it fit 2005-15 Tacoma's. I would not be surprised to find more connections, but this is the only unoccupied one I could find. Appears to be all spade lugs like my harness but it will not fit that connector.

    Thanks in advance,

    Paul

I added some posts behind this, but after spending about another 2 hours and finding a youtube on how to find it. It was right, you can not see it and it was covered with electrical taped behind a large wiring bundle. I could only find it by feel and Toyota could not have hid it any better. I serious think they wanted you to take it to the dealer to have it installed. Here is the link I found that was helpful.

Thanks folks I found the link here!

Welcome to TW....I too am in the Springs. I don't have a trailer brake connected, but I do have instructions with everything when I bought my truck. Is there nothing in the manual that details this connection and where it is located?

Only thing I found in the manual, was a drawing with the harness close to the steering column, but found out reading here it is hidden in the kick panel. Connector I found was covered with electrical tape and taped to another wiring harness. Should have been it, really starting to wonder about the harness I bought.

Let me check tonight, but I am pretty sure mine came with a harness in the glove box. Don't buy anything yet. If it is, I don't need it and you are welcome to it. I have a'14 with Tow Package

Ok, you jogged some of my feeble brain cells. I have that connector as well but its a bare harness on one end. Other end has the right connector I need. It appears I will have to contact the seller on that harness.

    Thanks,

    Paul

Strange, more research and in the glove box was the connector that came with the Tacoma. It is the same connector as the 3040P connector that Tekonsha has on their web site as well. Only unoccupied connector I found is like others have discussed for the 2016 Tacoma's and Tundra's. It appears to be the 3017P style.
Issue I have is that the plug that came with the truck, and one I bought have a very heavy duty (12 gauge) wire. The 3017P does not. At least that I can see. Dealer said that their docs show the 3040P as well for what they would sell with the Takonsha controller.
