    Hey guys,

I'm thrilled to be a new Tacoma owner. I've pretty much been driving aircooled Volkswagens up to this point, and I knew I wanted a truck with more people and cargo capability. I just got a great job out of school at SpaceX, and I'm psyched to join the 21st century.

I drove 2 hours down to San Diego to check this one out, and of course it followed me home. I tried to play tough with the dealer but I'm pretty sure they saw me gushing the whole time. I already named her Phoebe. It's a 2012, with the TRD offroad and tow packages. The reason I drove so far to get it is because I wanted a stickshift, and double-cab stickshifts aren't even supposed to be shipped to the California market. It had 1900 (yes, 1900!) miles on it, which makes it used I suppose. It was leased for a month, according to the CARFAX. It's also CPO'd by Toyota, which means I get to enjoy the double-powertrain warranty. I was able to get it for 31K and 2.9 APR, which I'm told is pretty good for a first-time buyer. Do you guys think I got a good deal?

Here she is parked at Old Town SD.

Anyway, I'm sure this thing is 10 times more capable of an off-roader than I'll ever be, so the intention is to leave it bone-stock. I've done the whole balls-out custom thing on my turbo VW, so I'm just looking to enjoy this one as-is. We'll see if any words are eaten in the future. Right now, I'm still marveling at things like bluetooth pairing, air conditioning, and (to me) a grave-quiet cabin.

And she even matches Charlotte, my turbo aircooled!

Anyway, I'm happy to join the forum and start learning. Feel free to dispense advice, tips, tricks, hidden goodies, and concerns as you see fit. Cheers guys!

    Hey David,

I'm part of the friction-stir weld team that's making the fuel and LOx tanks, which make up nearly the entirety of the fuselage as you look at the rocket. Lots of work to do!

Thanks guys! As far as mods go I've already done the wormdrive clamps on the tailgate hinges for theft protection. But that's it, I swear. :D
