I have a 2001 Tacoma Crew Cab that I just bought after my grown son totaled a truck I inherited from my late father-in-law. My wife wanted some chrome Lund NERF bars so I purchased some which seemed to fill the need but you have to have a "mounting kit". There are so many and none of the pictures and instructions seem to match my vehicle's layout. I ordered a set of LUND 271031 but I can't seem to figure out how to make it work. I doesn't look like they are the correct fit. There are SO many and the RockAuto website I am using doesn't seem to tell you which vehicles they are generally for until AFTER you add it to the order. Any one got any suggestions? Just sign me "confused old man" LOL

Welcome!!! Taking a quick peek at the issue, I'm seeing this might be a bit more of a pita than its worth!! Can you return? Get something a little more OEM that just bolts up? Even if you find the right mounting kit you may need to drill! The instructions are kinda 'meh' was hoping to find the variable mounting kit part numbers but to no avail!

Well, I've figured out and solved ONE problem, how to see appropriate vehicles for each mounting bracket in RockAuto. Problem is now my vehicle is so OLD, that there isn't a kit that I can find that lists it. I've got a good friend that is very mechanically inclined and has offered to help. He says find the closest one and we'll MAKE it work LOL good old American can-do spirit. It'll probably end up being a lot of fun. I'll post some write-ups and pictures if, no, WHEN we get it figured out. Thanks.
