    Hey everyone!

Been searching this forum for awhile for help with my truck, guess it’s finally time I decided to join! I’d like to be doing more things with my Tacoma and not just my Celicas. It’s been my daily driver for almost 2 years and I love this truck, it needs some tlc but has had very few issues for having over 202k miles now.

My other children taking all my money are a 99 GT 3sgte swapped celica and a 93 Alltrac Celica currently undergoing a full rebuild at DDPR in Texas... I could have bought a new Tacoma for all the money that’s going into this 26 year old rare beast but I love her ❤️

Anyways, just saying hello and a thanks in advance to all those that contribute countless hours sharing their knowledge and help in forums like these!

    Namaste,
    Amy

Hows the head gasket been treating you? I know that's an issue on some 05's (like mine).

I’m afraid to check...been having the mystery misfire in cyl#6 the last few weeks. Did you have to replace your HG?

I've been too afraid to do real diagnostics as well. My coolant will go into the overflow, but not back into the radiator. So for now I just stole my wifes turkey baster and put it back into the radiator. So far it's working, but I don't know how long this "fix" will last. My plan is to get a new gasket and have the heads checked before the year is over. Shit's just expensive.

edit: Just noticed you have a 6 speed as well. Do you have a short shifter?

I’m gonna check a few other things but am afraid that it will end up being the hgs. I did a leak down test last year when it threw a couple misfire codes but new spark plus seemed to be what it really needed. I need to keep a better eye on the coolant, good call. They have turkey basters at the dollar store, better replace that before she notices lol

I do not have a short shifter for the truck, only did that in a couple of my Celicas. The truck definitely has a pretty long throw. I’m also waiting to do the trans as my third gear synchros are going bad, so the short shifter may not help my “trying to baby it” shifting style!

SAME. I’ve noticed a trend with 3rd gear on others peoples trucks as well. For the first 10-15 min of driving, it’ll grind going into 3rd unless I shift slowly. Others have reported this as well, and after that it’s fine. I would recommend a SS anyways because holy shit does it make a difference. I have a URD one for reference.

Ohhh good it’s not just me! It’s slowly getting worse, it used to only be until it was warmed up but now it’s happening too often. I will look into the shifter though thanks for the info!
