New Member Oil Question

I traded my 2013 2.7, manual transmission 4x4 last week for a 2014 4.0 Auto TRD 4x4 with 23000 miles. My question is would you recommend using Mobil 1 synthetic in the 4.0, and what weight? The manual recommends 5w30 conventional, but I used 0w20 Mobil 1 with Toyota filters in the 2.7 with 0 issues. Some professional advice would be great. Also, would it be wise to use the Toyota filters also? Thanks in Advance!!

 

I run 5-30 AMSOIL XL and AMSOIL filters. If I didn't have this available here I'd rune either Mobile 1 synthetic or Castrol Syntec. The factory filters are decent, but the efficiency on the smaller particles is less than half that of the AMSOIL Filters, and a good ways behind WIX. If you'r changing the oil at the regular 3000 or 5000 intervals I don't know that it would make much difference. With the stuff I'm using AMSOIL recommends 10K and I can say the oil is still visibly cleaner than a 5K change was when I was using Castrol Syntec and Toyota filters.
