Hey guys been lurking Tacoma World ever since i got my baby about 6 months ago. I recently purchased some new wheels and tires, the guy at the tire shop said he's been in the tire buisness for 20+ years blah blah blah..long story short he recommended some 285/70/17's and i went with it because he sounded like he knew what he was talking about. Well i'm sure you all know that those size tires rub on a stock Tacoma and that's happened.

They took off the mudflaps and that helped a bit but it was still rubbing so now he is telling me to throw a ready lift kit on the front for tire clearance, he said it will be about $510.00 with an alignment. Is this pricing kinda crazy for just some spacers? Iv'e noticed alot of people run the 5100 billies so i searched and found front and rear shocks on toyotec for $360..how hard are these to install?

Thanks for putting up with my noobie questions :)

Go with the Billies if you want to go that route. Spacer lift is not worth it. Take it from a guy that went that route and shortly began looking for a different setup...

No worries, I never intended on getting spacers when i lift it.

You know i can't really tell..i spent like 20 mins trying to find where they rub with my gf turning the wheel.. only time i can hear it is when i'm actually driving and make a turn.

Try turning the wheel and leaning on it to see if under load you rub anywhere? :notsure:
