I just became a Tacoma member by default. My 1995 Toyota Hilux got totaled in a wreck about a month ago. I got a good insurance settlement and found this 1999 Toyota Tacoma SR5 w 89k miles for $6k here in Dallas. I love it so far. What should I know about this truck? It's a 2wd 5 speed.

Can anyone tell me why it has this decal on the tailgate and not the sides of the truck? I'm not sure I've seen it like that before. Thanks!

Hmmm. It sure doesn't look after market, but it could be.

I wondered about that. That also seems unlikely, given the low miles, etc. But I don't know. It seems weird. I'm not a real big fan of these decals, and my 1995 Toyota Pickup had terrible decals that were peeling off, etc. I sort of think that this is cute, but odd.

Honestly, one of the main reasons I joined this forum was to find out what the story is with the decal on the tailgate. I'm also curious what exactly the SR5 package consisted of in 1999 since my truck has hand-cranked windows (which I like) and not a whole lot of amenities. Just curious. A/C and a beer window in back? I will say this: I really love this truck. It has a solid and comfortable feel that my '95 Truck didn't, although it was a nice low mileage truck w AC, etc. I call this Tacoma the Prince of Trucks: I'm gonna party like it's 1999!

Surely somebody on this forum has seen this tailgate decal before.

Thank you. It's a California truck that they guy brought to Texas when he moved here. It's in ridiculously good shape.
