Thank you all so much for the quick responses yes my Tacoma does have a clutch bypass button tried it and it didn't work, though the light came on for it. It does have the little plastic button under the clutch pedal that they refer to as a starter safety device meaning if the clutch isn't all the way to the floor, it won't start. So I went through and tightened down my battery terminals as tight as I can get them and and the ground bolts, after making them all shine like a new penny. I also discovered it does have the what Toyota refers to as engine immobilizer system ., So a extra thanks to dk Crew, for your suggestion. Who knew , what a security system ! Anyways so after cleaning everything up, going through the reset got in, stood on the clutch and my baby fired up ! Course it could have just been the way I talked so sweet to it before I put in the key ...LOL. thank you all so much for all the great suggestions and input I'm so glad to be a member !!

Listen very carefully and when you turn the key do you hear one small click and then nothing?

If so it is probably the starter solenoid.

It can be rebuilt for about 40 dollars and a hour of your time.

Then after several attempts it will start and sound normal for a bit.

If so then the starter solenoid has worn burned contacts and can be repaired in an hour or two for less than 40 dollars.

You can buy the contacts and plunger new from Nations Starter and Alternator for about 30 - 35 bucks. Much cheaper than hundreds for a rebuilt POS from Autozone etc.

Check this video for rebuilding the solenoid on the starter.

Sounds like your issue was loose and dirty battery. It might have been the Toyota security system. I’m trying the battery terminal felt pads for the first time, got Noco brand. It’s too early to say if they’re helping or not.

Your battery probably has a low state of charge. You could just drive for a half hour or better hook up a battery charger to get it topped off.

Glad you got it figured out and started!

My old Cadillac had a habit of battery terminals coming slightly loose. Seemed to always have enough contact to run lights, radio, etc... But as soon as I tried to start it, everything would go dead.
