I do not know what took me so long to look for a Toyota truck user's group, but am glad I found one! Guess an intro is now in order. Having gotten my first car @ age 19, it was a '65 Ford Falcon Ranchero. Two years later I left it in Amarillo, Texas when it broke down there while heading home on leave from Camp LeJeune, N.C. Next purchase was a new '73 Datsun 1600 4x2 truck, which I owned until about 1990, when I sold it to get a used 1986 Nissan 4-banger w/"nap-Z" engine.

Back in 1981 I needed a "commuter" vehicle to get me the 52 miles (each way) to my new job with AT & T-Pacific Bell-SBC-AT & T (again). I did that ride for 26 years until retiring in early 2007. Using a "Consumer Reports Car Buyer's Guide" my choice was a new Toyota Corolla Sports Coupe w/1800cc 3TC motor. Best car I ever owned and IMHO one of the best motors Toyota ever made. It had 376K on the odometer when I sold it, and I had never been in the engine!

In 1992 I sold the Nissan truck to my brother and treated myself to a new Toyota 4x2 "ExtraCab Deluxe" truck, with 22RE motor, which I still have @ 280K on the odometer. 2005 is when I let go my faithful Corolla, and got a second truck...the 2003 4x2 Quad Cab PreRunner w/auto trans & 2.4L (T100) motor. It came used w/28K on the meter, and now has been run up to 118K. Though it has been a pretty decent truck, it has had it's problems. At this point, I am teetering on trading it in on a Tacoma. I am hoping to glean some knowledge from the Forum to assist me in this regards, and issues with my PreRunner.

Thanks guys for the welcome! I try to keep my vehicles maintained, and do most of the basic "bolt off-bolt on" work myself, though I am no mechanic. It is good to know there is a place to turn to where others can share their knowledge and experiences, as opposed to going to a dealership...

Welcome, be sure to explore the site as much as possible. There is pretty much a write up on all basic maintenance that will explain and show you how to do things, which is a great thing about this site.
