Just joined the forum. My 1998 tacoma just turned 400,000 miles on the odometer a week ago. This is my third toyota 4-by, fifth toyota overall (my other car is a Yaris). I got a 1985 toyota 4x in 1987, traded it in for a 1991 in 1993, then traded that one in for a 1998 in 2000, and here it is almost 2017.

Anybody else have a 1998 out there still running? A few rust spots which have been repaired, original engine, transmission, rear end; had some front end work and maintenance is all.

    Welcome to TW.
My 87 pickup died a few days after I sold it to a dealer. My 90 4Runner is still running for its current owner last recorded mileage on the original 22re was over 500k, but it has had a few 100k on it after the ODO & speedo died.
Take care of them, and Toyotas will take care of you. Just an FYI, we love pictures.

Jeez, I wonder if I even have any pics of my truck, wait a sec...there used to be a google earth pic of my yaris parked where I worked...
Figured it out, now there is a pic of my tacoma, and if you look real hard you can see turkeys running up the street.

k, i started a photo album now how do i get the bloody photo next to my name...and its not like i dont already waste half my life on a computer already...Okay, I just figured it out, one photo posted.

And some simple math: 250 k miles on the first truck, 220 k on the next, 400 k on this one, along with 229k on my Yaris and 60k on the 1984 Camry...that adds up to 1.159 million miles driven in Toyotas. Holy cow.

Hello, I have a 2006 Tacoma with 95,000 miles. I am going to be trading it in next week for a new Tacoma Sport. Glad to see this forum here to be able to learn from others.

I just might take it to a million miles (somebody just did that w/ a Tacoma recently). I told my girlfriend I might need to get a new truck, but she said she likes my truck and wants me to drive it till it literally falls apart. Okay, you don't have to ask me twice. Do I have a great girlfriend or what? Course she just bought a new Rav4.

Run it til it gives up the ghost. Then treat it to a full rebuild and run it again.

My dad has built lots of street rods, sometimes taking a rusting, bullet-riddled 1930's hulk found in a field, and a year later it's running and going to rod runs. I don't have any of the skills or patience he has, but keeping my 98 running longer is one reason i joined the forum.

Ah. Well, she'll still be running for a while. Maybe when the day comes, you'll get a lil bit of the itch and put a crate motor in her.
I'm more than a year into my hotrod, but the joy of completing the small stuff until the big stuff is done is worth it.

Sincerely hoping it doesn't like disintegrate on the way to work or anything. Lotsa little things breaking down, the cruise control quit working last week, the drivers side door latch broke two days ago (glad it did that at home and not on the commute), stuff like that.
