    Hi all.
    I just got my first Tacoma, a 2004 TRD 4x4 Automatic.
    Drove from NYC to the Adirondacks to pick it up a couple of weeks back.
    It's not without it's issues, but at least frame rust ain't one (swapped in 2016)

    I gotta say that this forum was one of the strongest factors in me deciding to go for a 1st gen tacoma as the sheer amount of knowledge and community is huge compared to some of the other options that were on the table.
    That and being from Iceland meant the dream was always a chunky hilux (or a defender of course), which I might have gone for while there if it wasn't for gas being like $10/gallon. This is probably as close as I'll get here for the foreseeable future.
    I also managed to go the first 33 or so years of my life without a car, riding my bike everywhere I needed to go so I'm more than a little green when it comes to car stuff, but not totally inept when it comes to wrenching and "best practice"

    I'm sure I'll have a thousand and one questions as I slowly make my way through swapping out every dumb thing that's rusted or broken on the car.

    Looking forward to it.

    Oh and here's a pic of what'll be victimizing my wallet for the foreseeable future (the truck, fortunately not the house as well):
