So my locker won't disengage, and I can't get the motor off of the axle...

I enjoyed what we did. We went to left before we went back and went right to the national forest. But saw some nice views. Would like to get to the top soon.

Welcome! I payed a bit over $500 to have the dealership replace my driverside door latch. :(

Try the junkyards though.... u-pull and pay has a few tacomas on the lot right now..
ruh roh. should be 3 bolts and a sharp flathead or something to pry it off... be careful not to ding up the mating surface, but that seal has to be broken to get the motor off. it'll probably under a bit of pressure since it's stuck on, so jack up at least one of the rear tires to relieve that tension, and try a bit more elbow grease. :D Once the bolts are off, (unless it's fubar'd) it's only the seal that holds it on.
Nice, man! That 350 counts for something, but I thought expo rigs are supposed to be reliable????? ;) I didn't think "heep" and "expedition" could be used in the same sentence. :D

Have you tried rocking the wheels back and forth?

Dunno about the 350 but the 4.0 was an awesome engine. Everything else, meh...

I owned one for 6 years. Everything broke on it except for that tank of a 4.0. Nice thing is parts are easy to get. ;)

Yeah. I removed the all of the bolts, took off the shield, and unplugged all of the wiring. It just wouldn't budge. I thought I was about to break my flat head in half. I sprayed it with pb blaster, so we'll see if that helps. I'll try jacking up the tire as well.
No, I figured Turning for a good 5 minutes on pavement would be good enough. Haha

I've always had great luck with 350! There's nothing to them and make nice power! Ya I never thought I would own a jeep but got a good deal so I thought I would try one!

Nice jeep Alex, I still need to drop in my 350 into my jeep wrangler. But before I do I need some better axles than the D30/35 that came with it. Plus it's gonna be the wife's toy :D

As shit breaks, upgrade it. If you want ideas, let me know. I found pretty much every weak point in mine. :D

One of the big ones is the NP241 could use the slip yoke eliminator. It helps with driveline angles and if you have to drop the drive shaft to get off the trail, you won't have to worry about ATF spewing everywhere.

If it has the Chrysler 8.25, the rubber fill plug is the breather (if I remember right). Not too big of a deal here in NM but many guys welded a tapped washer over the fill hole to put in a metal fill plug and then ran a separate breather.

The Chevy 350, I got no experience with. Probably has a bunch of different peripherals as well (alternator, water pump, power steering pump, A/C, etc.) Although, I seem to remember the 4.0 used a lot of the Chevy ones.

Keep an eye on the front roof pillars. They crack right below the roof line since the unibody construction has to flex somewhere.

And a gas tank skid does wonders.

Otherwise, fun vehicles. Especially with some aftermarket control arms.

The rocking back and forth needs to be done with both tires off the ground. Takes the tension off the locking mechanism.

Let me do some reading in the FSM.

According to the FSM (pg. SA-2) troubleshooting says that if it won't unlock it is the:

    Speed sensor
    Diff. Lock ECU
    or
    Wiring or ground is faulty.

When you hit the button, can you hear the motor do something?

And, yeah, what Silas said. According to the FSM, step 7 on page SA-180, undo the bolts and remove. Helpful, huh? :)

Have you tried using a buddy and rotating the wheels in opposite direction?

The motor doesn't even make a noise anymore, but the diff lock light does stay on along with the abs light. I undid the grey wire mod to see if that would fix anything, but nope.
Did t try that, but I did yank it back and forth haha

Hey pc... With that locker motor, there should only be two wires going into it. Just put voltage and ground directly to the leads (the ones going to the locker, not the vehical side) and listen to see if the solenoid is faulty or not. If you don't hear anything, reverse the wires and try again. If you still don't hear anything it's the solenoid... If it unlocks the diff, then it's an electrical issue...

Or I guess you could just use a multimeter at the harness to see if it's applying voltage like it should. Also check your IGN 1 fuse...
