I called and the guys say "yeah". I said yeah does this happen all the time? He told me to bring it in, but sounded like he didn't give a shit. So I'm gonna take it in next week and find out what they say. But after spending $1800 you would think they would be more considerate.
I mean I understand shit happens, but lets see.

 

How big of tires can I run with stock steelies?

 

No lift right? 265s with out trimming.

interesting... every time I go in they are more than willing to help. Even go out of their way to help me test fit shit... You obviously pissed them off

With some lift you can run 285s or 255s with minor rub. I'm at a full 3" lift and I still rub once and a while offroad.

 

265/75s? or 265/70s?

I don't know what the 2nd Gens come with stock. The 1st Gens came with 265/70s and most guys go up to 265/75 without requiring mods.

 

I still have some very good Scotch. A Lagavulin 16 or a Belvenie 17 to choose from. Enough peatiness to make you think about other things.

The tires on my truck now are 245/75/r16.

 

We shall have to make up for the period of time that I did not know you were a fan.

 

So heard some more on the truck today......... So the shop said that they would call their contact at my insurance company and try to attribute the damage to the crash. Insurance said no and sent out an inspector today to physically look at it. No dice on any fix or repair on their end, too much liability for the shop. The inspector actually called me and also did his research also. Said he was well aware of the claims that many have made to Toyota about the frames on 05-06's and that I needed to call Toyota.

What surprised me is that he knew about me on TW here and said that the cheapest bet would be for me to fix it myself and actually said, "I've seen your stuff online. You shold be able to fabricate something being a welder and all". Crazy. But I'm going to call Toyota tomorrow and see what they say at least. I'm sure it will be a no but call to cover my bases......

Yeah a little bit of a creeper. But when it is a choice for your company paying out around 15K for a frame swap you need to do some research. So I really don't blame him. Just sucks for me.

 

yeah dude.... how would you even go about fabing something up?

 

Take off the wheels, suspension, drop the front diff and axles and then jack up the engine (either using a hoist from above, or a jack from below) and then use a prybar to pop out the frame and then design a plate that I can weld on after welding the frame back together. About 3 hard days of work at 8+ hours a day.

So had a bad day at Upull. Located 2 other Tacomas, both were single cabs down side was they were both 2wd . Found a bed that was decent... Hell it looked better then my old one. But no truck to take it home.
So next plan was to look for a Runner shaft. Much to my suprise, every Runner I checked had the 3rd and the drive shaft missing

 

Have not but that is pretty badass.

Well that sounds like a crappy day.
