The truck is getting old. The reverse switch at the MT is going, if not already gone. Little things are starting to add up. I'd really dig an 80-series Cruiser right now but I'm sensing that is the wrong direction in time. It'd be nice if I had the bank account to SAS a 2nd Gen DC.

An alternative to re-booting the CVs is the replace the axle with a reman OEM unit from CVJ for $99 each. Not as nice as a new OEM axle, but close. Just did this last week.

Silas told me about this option last night. Probably would've had it by now. Going to contact Camelback later today to find out what the status is. In this day and age of logistics and the number of Tacomas on the road, it shouldn't take a week to get a part in.

    Thanks for the welcome.

I am really excited about this truck. I am trying to get some seat covers.

I don't do much off-roading with it though. Mostly use it to haul motorcycles, but I am thinking about using it more for forest rds and camping.

It will handle that with ease.

    Welcome.

Pictures of trucks are always most welcome too.

Hilarity is ensuing. Just got notice that the boot kits are shipping today. No word on the CV axle itself yet.

Thanks toastyjosh. I am gonna look up the links for the rims...

One question: What about the cheaper alternative of black poweder caoting the stock rims? Too cheesy?

I'll post a couple of pics.

a small inconvenience is the grand scheme of life. Luckily, the grocery store is within walking distance so I can pop down there to pick up a frozen pizza in time for the Sun Bowl.

Yeah, a friend stopped in while he was oot and aboot. Started right up, let it sit running for an hour. Hopefully it didn't shorten the life. Not like the battery isn't 7 years old or nothing.
